The Department of Art at the University of Central Oklahoma a NASADaccredited university invites applications for a tenuretrack assistant professor position in Studio ArtDrawing beginning August 2025. We seek a dynamic artist and educator with a strong studio practice a contemporary fine arts approach and demonstrated teaching excellence in drawing.
Position Overview
The successful candidate will teach all levels of drawing courses mentor students and contribute to curriculum development for the drawing foundation and emphasis majors. Additional responsibilities include coordinating the drawing area overseeing adjunct faculty participating in student recruitment and performing other duties as assigned. Faculty members are expected to engage in teaching service and scholarly/creative activities in accordance with the tenure and promotion guidelines outlined in the UCO Faculty Handbook.

Job Responsibilities
Teach three studio courses per semester in all levels of drawing and foundationallevel courses as needed.
Develop a curriculum that integrates diverse techniques materials and conceptual approaches.
Foster an innovative and welcoming studio environment.
Coordinate the drawing area and supervise drawing adjunct faculty selection and supervision.
Contribute to department college and university service including student recruitment.
Maintain an active exhibition and scholarly record.
QualificationsRequired
MFA in Studio Art with an emphasis in drawing.
Minimum of two years of fulltime collegelevel teaching experience.
Strong knowledge of contemporary and historical drawing practices.
Demonstrated professional studio practice with an active exhibition and scholarly record.
Strong oral and written communication skills.
Qualifications Preferred
Familiarity with online learning management systems (e.g. D2L).
Experience teaching online courses.
Successful record of community engagement with students.
