DescriptionJob Summary
Plans develops and implements the activity program which should maintain the highest level of functioning for the residents through social emotional intellectual physical recreational and spiritual activities with emphasis on a homelike setting.
Essential Functions
- Communicates program schedule to residents visitors and staff.
- Assists with planning and coordination of facilitywide special events and lists daily activities on unit boards each morning and distributes monthly calendar.
- Transports residents to activity programs and provides one to one visits with residents at risk for social isolation.
- Documents residents attendance and participation in activities and reviews department programming with leadership for revision.
- Provides coverage for leadership as needed creating monthly activity calendars participates in orientation meetings and regularly scheduled resident care plan conferences and assists in development of interdisciplinary plans of care.
- Coordinates activity services provided by volunteer and/or community groups or individuals.
Physical RequirementsMust be able to tolerate prolonged sitting extensive walking and standing and occasional lifting. Works in direct resident care area. Works with residents who exhibit a wide variety of disabilities and/or functional levels. Requires lifting bending pushing wheelchairs and handling equipment. Requires ability to move freely throughout the facility. Requires full range of body motion including bending stooping prolonged standing.
Education Experience and Certifications
High School Diploma or GED required; Bachelors Degree preferred. Experience in recreational activities preferred. Completed an activities program management training course approved by the state or completion of training course within 6 months of hire or transfer. Good oral and written communication skills required.
