Job Description

We are currently seeking a highly skilled and motivated Hotel Financial Controller to join our dynamic team at Formby Hall Golf Resort and Spa. This senior position is pivotal in overseeing and managing the hotels financial operations ensuring compliance with financial regulations and contributing to the strategic growth of the business.

As the Financial Controller you will be responsible for managing the daytoday financial processes including budgeting forecasting reporting and financial analysis. You will work closely with senior management to provide critical financial insights that support decisionmaking and drive profitability.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee all financial activities and operations of the hotel including budgeting forecasting and financial reporting.
  • Ensure accurate and timely monthly quarterly and annual financial statements.
  • Lead the preparation of annual budgets cash flow management and variance analysis.
  • Monitor and review the hotels financial performance ensuring targets and KPIs are met.
  • Prepare reports and presentations for senior management providing insights into financial trends risks and opportunities.
  • Implement and maintain effective internal controls and financial policies.
  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements and tax obligations.
  • Manage the accounting team providing leadership training and performance reviews.
  • Drive cost control initiatives and revenue management strategies to improve profitability.
  • Liaise with external auditors banks and financial institutions.

Key Requirements:

  • Proven experience as a Financial Controller Finance Manager or similar role preferably within the hospitality industry.
  • Strong knowledge of hotel financial operations accounting principles and financial reporting standards.
  • Experience in budgeting financial forecasting and variance analysis.
  • Excellent proficiency in financial software (experience with hotelspecific systems such as Opera is an advantage).
  • Strong analytical organizational and problemsolving skills.
  • Attention to detail with the ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Leadership experience with the ability to manage and motivate a team.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Professional qualifications (e.g. ACA ACCA CIMA) are highly desirable.
