We are currently accepting applications for theschool year.Reports to the Department Chair for Humanities Job OverviewSequoyah School seeks a dynamic Humanities and English teacher to join the faculty. This position will work closely with members of the Humanities Department to build an immersive and engaging program for language learning and culture. English & Humanities faculty position roles and responsibilities include:- Teach two sections of upperlevel English or 9th10th Humanities courses per term (sections are 80 min blocks)
- Teach a Z block minicourse elective for 3 mods
- Serve as an Advisor to a designated group of students; responsibilities include academic coaching facilitating lessons on diversity & inclusion and interpersonal skill development and team building
- Facilitate a Social Innovation Program student team
- Supervise a Stewardship group
- Participate in Morning Meeting assemblies
- Chaperone two field studies and camping trips per year (one in the fall or winter; one in the spring) including driving school 10 passenger school vans.
Qualifications Qualified candidates must have a bachelors degree and a minimum of 3 years of high school teaching experience. Successful candidates will also have the following qualifications: - A masters degree or higher in the field of Humanities or English
- Have experience teaching Humanities and/or English at the middle high school or college level
- Evidence of mastery in the field of Humanities or English
- Evidence of antibias teaching practices
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Demonstrated passion about projectbased studentcentered pedagogy
- Have experience with or have an interest in changemaking and servicelearning
- Are interested in the collaborative work of faculty including curriculum planning
