NURSE (RN or RPN)

EARLY PSYCHOSIS INTERVENTION (EPI) PROGRAM

Job Status: 1.0 FTE Permanent

Hours of Work: 35 hours per week

Base office: Parry Sound

Purpose of the Position: The Nurse (RN or RPN) Early Psychosis Intervention role is a crucial part of the Parry Sound team focusing on providing culturally sensitive mental health and wellness services to Indigenous community members and nonIndigenous clients. This position includes supporting at risk youth within community settings to ensure comprehensive culturally informed care. The nurse will engage directly with youth and their families perform health assessments manage care plans administer medications and collaborate with mental health and addiction resources to support youth at risk and youth experiencing an early episode of psychosis.

The successful candidate will be part of a team of two based in Parry Sound with support from a separate EPI team in Muskoka and the regional program. This structure ensures a collaborative environment with a strong network of shared knowledge and resources.

Education and Qualifications:

  • Current registration in good standing as a Registered Nurse (RN) or Registered Practical Nurse (RPN) with the College of Nurses of Ontario.
  • Deep understanding of Indigenous cultures histories and wellness practices with specific knowledge of the traditional territories within Muskoka and Parry Sound is an asset.
  • Experience working with Indigenous communities or organizations is highly valued.
  • Experience providing mental health and wellness support including psychiatric and physical health assessments and crisis intervention.
  • Practical experience working with youth experiencing mental health and substance use challenges.
  • Proven ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team particularly in rural settings.
  • Proficiency in computer programs including Microsoft Word and Outlook.
  • Bilingualism in French is an asset.
  • A valid Ontario G or G2 drivers license and access to reliable transportation.
  • Willingness to work days evenings weekends and statutory holidays as required.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Provide culturally informed nursing care and support to Indigenous and nonIndigenous youth and their families including health assessments and intervention planning.
  • Engage with youth and community partners to develop trustbased relationships that promote mental health and wellness.
  • Collaborate with schools community leaders and other health and mental health resources to ensure comprehensive and culturally safe care.
  • Participate in psychoeducational and support program development tailored to the needs of youth.
  • Work closely with the Parry Sound team and maintain a collaborative relationship with the Muskoka EPI team and regional program to enhance service delivery.
  • Contribute to planning and facilitating culturally relevant community events and workshops.

Salary: $29.26 to $38.32 per hour for RPN or $37.20 to $45.36 per hour for RN commensurate with qualifications and experience
