Job Description

In this position you will be expected to develop plan prepare implement monitor and evaluate quality competencybased CTE (Career and Technical Education) programs leading to the development of student skills sufficient to qualify for entrylevel employment and/or postsecondary education using effective instruction with all students. You will also be expected to establish and maintain high expectations and promote a culture of achievement and student learning.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education/Certification:

Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university required

Masters degree preferred

Valid Louisiana teaching certificate required

CTTIE Certification

EXPERIENCE:

  • Three years of successful experience required

SPECIAL KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS:

Knowledge and Skills for a Career and Technical Education (CTE) Teaching Position

  • Content Expertise: Deep knowledge of subject matter/course content specific to the assigned CTE program including industry trends technical skills and workforce expectations.
  • Instructional Strategies: Proficiency in utilizing handson projectbased and competencybased learning approaches that align with realworld applications.
  • Assessment Practices: Expertise in designing and implementing a variety of formative and summative assessments including performancebased evaluations industry certifications and competency demonstrations.

PROGRAM PLANNING

The ArtsA/VTechnology and Communication Teaching position will prepare students to organize and manage various visual aspects of data visual arts performing arts and entertainment media industries. Coursework should equip students to work with animation interactive technology video graphics data visualization and special effects. Course work includes traditional fine arts media modern media art theory color theory composition and perspective equipment maintenance studio management and art portfolio marketing. The program should also encompass instructional support in identifying careers in augmented and virtual reality. Virtual reality is a computergenerated simulation of reality whereas augmented reality layers computergenerated images onto the real world.

INSTRUCTIONAL ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES FOR CTE EDUCATOR

CTE Program Development & Implementation

  • Design and implement a Career and Technical Education (CTE) program at CoBSS High School that contributes to improving the overall School Performance Score (SPS).
  • Monitor program effectiveness and adjust strategies to ensure continued positive impact on SPS.

Instruction & Student Achievement

  • Serve as the teacher of record for CTE students delivering daily instruction (MondayFriday) in business and technology courses.
  • Demonstrate subjectmatter expertise while setting high expectations and utilizing effective teaching practices.

DataDriven Instruction & Assessment

  • Use multiple student data elements to assess progress modify instruction and improve student learning outcomes.
  • Maintain accurate student records including CTE program completers and grading.

Family & Community Engagement

  • Communicate and collaborate with parents industry partners and the school community to support student growth and engagement.
  • Develop and maintain community and industry partnerships to enhance careerreadiness opportunities.

Professional Collaboration & Development

  • Participate in Professional Learning Communities (PLCs) and engage in ongoing professional development.
  • Serve as a staff representative on the CTE Advisory Committee and collaborate with CTE teachers and school administrators on scheduling and staffing decisions.

Classroom & Lab Management

  • Foster and maintain a safe positive and respectful learning environment that promotes effective student behavior.
  • Demonstrate effective management of classroom and programspecific lab spaces to facilitate handson learning.

Curriculum & Instructional Planning

  • Plan organize and teach competencybased business and technology courses aligned with state and industry standards.
  • Create refine and update approved curriculum frameworks including integration of Common Core Skills and SmarterBalanced Assessments.

Career Readiness & Student Advising

  • Provide students with guidance on career pathways employment opportunities and postsecondary education.
  • Participate in district regional and state CTE meetings to stay informed on industry trends and best practices.

Program Management & Compliance

  • Develop and manage CTE program budgets ensuring compliance with network and schoolbased guidelines.
  • Order and maintain supplies instructional materials and equipment necessary for program operations.
  • Implement and comply with CoBSS network policies and procedures.

Schoolwide Contributions & Responsibilities

  • Maintain consistent attendance and adhere to regular work hours as designated by school leadership.
  • Share in the responsibility of schoolwide activities and student supervision.
  • Perform other tasks as assigned by the principal in alignment with CTE program goals.

STUDENT MANAGEMENT

  • Apply and enforce student discipline in accordance with the Student Code of Conduct and student handbook.
  • Accompany and supervise students on all outoftown trips.
  • Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students equipment materials and facilities.

PROFESSIONALISM:

  • Informs appropriate school personnel of modifications/accommodations needed for individual students. Uses grammatically correct written and spoken language.
  • Implements and follows an Individual Education Plan (IEP) as mandated by IDEA.
  • Follows the time and/or duty schedule authorized by the school principal for the school day and extracurricular activities.
  • Notifies the principal promptly in case of absence and communicates in advance the date of return so that proper provisions can be made for hiring substitute teacher.
  • Maintains neat accurate current and complete records and reports and submits same on time to the appropriate personnel when requested.
  • Informs principal when a student is absent three consecutive days or five days overall.
  • Effectively communicates student progress to parents according to Pupil Progression Plan Prepares and devises a specific number of instructional minutes for each individual child as needed and indicated in the childs IEP.
  • Submits a copy of the report to the childs parent every nine weeks/six weeks.
  • Document achievement on IEPS i.e.; dates achieved.
  • Assesses each childs strengths and weaknesses in the educational physical and motor social selfhelp speech and language and arts and crafts areas every nine weeks/six weeks.
  • Assesses and evaluates each students progress on a regular basis to maintain an individual file of each students work and test results as evidenced by individual folders.
  • Attends school regularly and arrives punctually.
  • Always observes professional lines of communication with individuals inside and outside the school system.
  • Maintains the confidentiality of school and student records.
  • Maintains communication with immediate supervisor keeping him/her informed of problems concerns and significant developments.
  • Demonstrates positive support through actions and words as ambassadors of the schools and districts.
  • Uses proper administrative procedures/chain of commands for making requests and resolving conflicts.
  • Follow directives as assigned by your supervisor.
  • Communicates effectively with students staff parents and community.
  • Assumes outside classroom duties as related to school.
  • Assists in enforcing school/board rules and policies.
  • Ensures proper care of textbooks teaching aids and equipment.

  • Participate and attend parent teacher conferences.
  • Attending student activities functions as directed by Principal: ie. Dances programs prom sporting events professional development meetings inservice training and other programs as deemed an essential component of the schools programming.
