Summary of Position

The Academy is seeking a fulltime highly qualified 6th Grade Science Teacher committed to serving a diverse student body and delivering highquality inclusive instruction for the 25 26 School Year.

Our Classroom Teachers work as part of a dynamic team that includes close collaboration with other teachers the academic dean. and school support staff to deliver strong academic instruction and support students.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Plan prepare and deliver lesson plans and instructional materials that facilitate active learning.
  • Encourage and monitor the progress of individual students and use the information to adjust teaching strategies.
  • Demonstrate preparation and skill in working with students from diverse cultural economic and ability backgrounds.
  • Maintain accurate and complete records of students progress and development.
  • Establish and communicate clear objectives for all learning activities.
  • Provide a variety of learning materials and resources for use in educational activities.
  • Observe and evaluate students performance and development.
  • Prepare required reports on students and activities.
  • Communicate necessary information regularly to students colleagues and parents regarding student progress and student needs.
  • Use relevant technology to support and differentiate instruction.
  • Maintain school culture and classroom expectations in accordance with the rules and restorative practices of the school.
  • Participate in department/gradelevel school and parent meetings.
  • Assign and grade class work homework tests and assignments.
  • Encourage parent and community involvement obtain information for parents when requested and promptly return phone calls and answer emails.
  • Participate in appropriate professional activities.
  • Participate in extracurricular activities such as social sporting clubs and student organizations as directed.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Additional Obligations

Qualifications

  • Passing score of the California Basic Educational Skills Test (CBEST)
  • Must pass a criminal background check and TB test clearance
  • California Teaching Credential or working on teaching credential (preferred)

  • Ability to remain calm in stressful situations
  • Ability to establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others.
  • Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
  • Must have the ability and proven ability to report to work on a regular and punctual basis.
  • Perform all other related work delegated or required to accomplish the objectives of the total school program.
  • Knowledge and implementation of relevant technology. Meet professional teacher education requirements of school district and state.

Time Commitment

  • 11month position
  • 40hour work week


Additional Obligations (Teachers receive compensation for participation)

Its critical that students and families be provided with authentic learning experiences and opportunities to connect outside of the regular school day (Such as literacy nights student exhibitions etc.. We anticipate that teachers will need to attend only 1 or 2 of these types of events throughout the year. On rare occasions a teacher may be asked to attend a third event.

Teachers will be provided the time and resources to effectively prepare for these events during the school day and in most cases will receive compensation (at the evening rate) for participation. In addition teachers will be notified long before the event and in many cases will be able to select the event option.
