POSITION QUALIFICATION/REQUIREMENTS:
Degree: Doctor of Medicine (M.D. or Doctor of Osteopathy (D.O.. Board Certified in Anesthesiology
Education: This degree must have been accredited by ONE OF THE FOLLOWING
oThe Council on Medical Education of the American Medical Association
oAssociation of American Medical Colleges
oLiaison Committee on Medical Education
oCommission on Osteopathic College Accreditation of the American Osteopathic Association
oAn accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education and the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) at the time the degree was obtained
Internship/Residency: Successful completion of an internship and residency program which has been approved by ONE OF THE FOLLOWING:
oThe Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education
oThe Committee on Postdoctoral Training of the American Osteopathic Association.
Certification: Board Certified in Anesthesiology
Additional Certifications: Must have the following handson certification through the American Heart Association or American Red Cross
oCurrent Basic Life Support (BLS)
oCurrent Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
oCurrent Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
Experience: Anesthesiologists shall have actively practiced as Anesthesiologists for at least 2
twoyears within the past 3 years. The 2 years of required experience must not have ended more than one year prior to application
Licensure: Possess a current and unrestricted license to practice Medicine in the state of Texas.
Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) Anesthesiologist who write prescriptions for controlled substances must have a current Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) certificate or Controlled Drug Substance number as appropriate.
U.S. Citizenship: Shall be a U.S. citizen
English Language Requirement: Able to read write and speak English well enough to effectively communicate.
Physical Capability: Shall be physically capable of standing and/or sitting for extended periods of time and physically capable of performing all services required under the contract.
DUTIES:
Knowledge of the provision of medical management and consultation during the perioperative period in Pain Medicine and in critical care medicine.
Knowledge of a wide variety of anesthesiology procedures and techniques including the functional characteristics of complex respiratory equipment.
This includes administering assisted and controlled ventilation to patients with tracheotomies and other complex medical problems performing artificial airway care and maintenance.
Knowledge of anatomy and physiology including an indepth understanding of the structure and function of the lungs and bronchi as related to gas exchange and ventilation in order to administer special ventilation techniques such as: positive end expiratory pressure and intermittent mandatory ventilation; interpreting results of blood gas studies and makes adjustments in ventilator settings; removing endotracheal tubes; and assessing patients respiratory status and evaluating effectiveness of therapy.
Knowledge of pharmacology including an understanding of various classes of and their uses ability to prepare dosages and concentrations and select proper methods of administration and skill in identifying complications and interactions of various ; in order to determine effectiveness of the therapy being delivered to patients and to make recommendations to physicians regarding changes or alternatives to treatment.
Broad knowledge of computers and related software to include word processing spreadsheet data base management statistical applications and intranet and Internet connections and applications.
HOURS:
Services provided 24 hours a day 365 days a year 366 days during leap years). Anesthesiologist shall provide services seven 7 days each week including federal holidays and Governmentdesignated training holidays. Chief Anesthesia or his/her representative will establish the specific schedule based on clinical requirements and patient needs. Normal duty hours are flexible with weeklyaccrued time of up to 50 hours. Overtime is not authorized for
Anesthesiologist. The actual weekly schedule shall be coordinated with and
approved by Chief Anesthesia or his/her representative at least two weeks prior.

Base Down Days:
During a planned closure of the facility due to training closures before or after holidays family down days Employee will only be compensated for the actual hours clinic is closed and employee is not able to work employee will be required to use leave or take LWOP (without penalty).
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS/SKILLS
Must be comfortable in a fastpaced dynamic be able and willing to reprioritize on short notice and work on multiple simultaneous and able to work with various skills required. Time management skills required. The ability to meet deadlines in a deadline intensive environment is essential. High level of adaptability and willingness to embrace change in a fastpaced demanding environment.
