Basalite Concrete ProductsVancouver ULCis one of the largest manufacturers of concrete products in Western Canada. POSITION SUMMARY: Under the supervision of the Plant Manager and taking daily direction from the maintenance lead this position is responsible for installing maintaining and repairing machinery in both the Block and Dry Mix production facilities. This position is responsible for supporting and demonstrating theCore Values of Integrity Safety Respect Customer Focus Quality Innovation and Financial Success.Performs other related duties as assigned.
SUPERVISION:General
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Include the following other duties may be assigned.
- Ability to use oxygen/acetylene torch
- Ability to weld in various positions types of joints and types of materials. Ability to use an air arc plasmas torch etc.
- Ability to use a wide variety of shop tools and hand tools.
- Ability to replace or repair bearings power transmission components and related parts.
- Ability to rebuild hydraulic or pneumatic cylinders and valves. Ability to read pneumatic or hydraulic schematics.
- Ability to troubleshoot electrical problems and read simple electrical schematics.
- Ability to work with operators and supervisors to solve problems and implement solutions.
- Ability to plan and implement a preventative maintenance program.
- Work with plant manager to continuously improve the facilities and their respective production processes.
- General Building maintenance.
- Make safety a top priority within the plants. Implement improvements to machine and plant safety and demonstrate dedication to safety especially with respect to lockout and use of PPE. Attends safety meetings and abides by all safety rules set forth by company and governmental regulatory agencies; ensures that hazardous conditions are reported and corrected.
- Predictable and Regular attendance is required.
QUALIFICATIONSTo perform this job successfully an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge skill and/or ability required.
- Must be a Red Seal certified Millwright. Will also consider Red Seal certified Metal Fabricator CWB certified Welder or Machinist.
- Relevant experience in machinery maintenance and welding in a comparable industrial setting is required.
- Must have strong communication interpersonal teamwork and decisionmaking skills. Candidate is required to have a high level of mathematical and problemsolving skill.
- Ability to use and operate a personal computer. Working knowledge of industrial electricity is an asset.
- Ability to operate a forklift shop tools hand tools multi meter and any other equipment required to perform duties.
- Must be able to demonstrate commitment to safety and ability to work safely under all conditions.
- Predictable and Regular attendance is required.
WORK ENVIRONMENTThe work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.
- Plant environment with dusty and dirty conditions with loud noise moving machinery and mobile equipment.
- Outdoor environment with ambient weather conditions and mobile equipment.
- Must be comfortable working at heights and in confined spaces.
- Wear mandatory and/or other appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE)
Starting rate: $39.20/Hour
