Job Description

Primary Purpose:

TIA was established with the goal of providing outstanding teachers an accessible pathway to a sixfigure salary. Through approved local designation systems districts can identify and designate outstanding teachers based on student growth and classroom observation.

Region 16 ESC is looking for an innovative committed individual to lead the regional efforts to increase participation in the TIA program and lead a team of exceptionally talented professionals who will be supporting the TIA work. This individual must be an advocate for the TIA system and have the ability to articulate the components and the benefits of the program to regional superintendents and lead the work in all stages of development and implementation.

Qualifications:

Education/Certification

  • Texas Teacher Certification required
  • Masters Degree required
  • Texas Principal Certification required
  • Texas Superintendent Certification preferred

Skills

  • Successful Principal and /or Superintendent experience required
  • Recognized by peers as a competent and successful educator
  • Exemplary communication collaboration and leadership skills
  • A minimum of 3 years of Central Office or campus leadership experience including knowledge and experience with:
    • Human Capital and Talent Systems
    • Finance
    • Teacher Incentive Allotment (preferred)
    • Data collection and disaggregation (preferred)
    • A drive to be of service to others by establishing bonds with clients and providing accurate information

Working Conditions:

  • Tools/Equipment Used: Standard office equipment including personal computer and peripherals
  • Posture: Must be physically able to tolerate prolonged sitting frequent standing; occasional bending/stooping pushing/pulling twisting and standing
  • Motion: Must be physically able to tolerate frequent standing and walking repetitive hand motions frequent keyboarding and use of mouse; occasional reaching occasional driving
  • Lifting: Must be physically able to tolerate regular light lifting and carrying (less than 15 pounds); may require occasional heavy lifting and carrying 45 pounds or more)
  • Environment: Must be physically able to work inside; tolerate frequent districtwide travel and occasional statewide travel; regular exposure to noise
  • Mental Demands: Must be able to work with frequent interruptions; maintain emotional control under stress; work prolonged or irregular hours on occasion
  • Regular Attendance is an essential function

Major Responsibilities and Duties:

  1. Must have experience working with the Teacher Incentive Allotment at the district or campus leadership level.
  2. Provide professional development and coaching for TIA districts in all stages of implementation including application development program implementation and designation and validation.
  3. Prioritize supports and services for LEAs including school districts and openenrollment charter schools defined as rural per NCES or TEA Reporting Categories.
  4. Responsible for increasing TIA participation and eligibility rates in their region and ensuring successful implementation of TIA as measured by performance on TIA Data Validation. Meet all regionspecific targets as approved by TEA.
  5. Maintain strong working relationships with District Leadership
  6. Provide documentation of the use of grant funds through the submission of a semiannual report.
  7. Complete and submit all necessary benchmarks tasks and requirements.
  8. Collaborate and communicate with TEA in the time and manner requested by TEA.
  9. Leverage existing ESC capacity around talent or strategic leadership to support this work.
  10. Schedule and host an annual TIA Performance Review that will include a review of the status of TIA and Talent initiatives in the region a relevant school visit and a discussion of opportunities for improvement.
  11. Reports for work ready to perform responsibilities
  12. Performs duties that directly and/or indirectly impact student performance in Region 16
  13. Maintains a professional level of confidentiality regarding all ESC matters
  14. Supports the mission goals and objectives of the ESC strategic plan
  15. Upholds and adheres to safety rules and policies of the ESC safety program
  16. Performs professional responsibilities as required by ESC policies processes and procedures
  17. Manages time calendar and job responsibilities to meet deadlines
  18. Meets proficiency levels of required technology skills as outlined by supervisor
  19. Incorporates appropriate technology in daily work and exhibits continual growth in technologies as outlined by supervisor
  20. Performs other duties as assigned
