Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY:

Under general supervision performs schoollevel bookkeeping record keeping accounting administrative and clerical functions at assigned school (elementary middle and high). Generates and maintains accurate and complete financial records of all schoollevel funds.

This position reports to the Principal.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Maintains the school bank account including monthly balancing; verifies and process school funds makes bank deposits reconciles bank statements and assembles required financial documentation and monthly reports for the school.

Performs all accounts payable and receivable transactions for the school: issues checks prepares purchase orders processes approved purchases records expenditures and maintains all supporting documentation. Subject to monthly and yearly audits.

Responsible for functions at the school to include but not limited to attendance payroll submission leave reporting substitutes etc. Serves as liaison to the central office in the handling of insurance matters workers compensation claims FMLA personnel changes etc.

Maintains accurate and updated school inventory and staff personnel records. Prepares and processes work orders as needed. Prepares and submits yearend reports to the Finance Department.

Performs other clerical duties as needed; acts as a backup for the receptionist etc.

KEY JOB REQUIREMENTS:

High School diploma or GED certificate required.

A minimum of three 3 years) accounting / bookkeeping / payroll skills computer knowledge and experience required. Formal training in office practices and experience preferred.

Makes administrative decisions which affect internal operations of the school.


Light independent judgment is necessary. Decisions made on an asneeded basis to establish operation of the office.

Requires regular contact with internal and external personnel within department. Verbal written and interpersonal skills required.

Applies recommends and implements technology knowledge (spreadsheets word processing and database management) concepts to improve the effectiveness of the Department.

Normal office setting in a school.

Light duty On most occasions sitting at a desk or table; intermittently sitting standing or stooping.

NOTE: This is a grade 19 225day position that pays for experience up to a Step 4.
