Job Description

Position Summary:

Atalanta is seeking an experienced highlymotivated and detailoriented molecular and cellular biologist to join our InVitro Biology team and lead the highthroughput screening team. AsHTS team lead this person will be responsible for the development andexpansion of our screening capabilities to evaluate siRNA efficacy in mammaliancells and will oversee the implementation of HTS to supportpreclinicaldrug development for multiple therapeutic targets.

Candidatemust be familiar with microplatebased cell culture and automated liquidhandling. A background in neurobiology and/or familiarity with neuronal cellassay development is a plus.

EssentialFunctions:

Implementing and optimizing high throughputautomated processes to accelerate siRNA compound screening and evaluation incellbased assays.

Developing and standardizing cellbasedassays using skills in molecular cloning stable cell line generation cellculture and expression analysis to assess biological activity of potential siRNA therapeuticcandidates

Application of data analysis tools to assessbiological activity and assay performance and for statistical analysis ofexperimental data

Managing research associates in theperformance of screening assays in a matrixed organization

Interfacing with multiple project teams toadapt assays to high throughput formats stage and prioritize screensiteratively improve processes and identify strong therapeutic lead compounds

Communicating study designs progress andresults through strong interpersonal interactions as well as slide presentationsand reports

Required Qualifications:

Technical expertise in cellbased bioassays highthroughputscreening automation mRNA expression analysis and ELISA/multiplex assays.

A strong background in assay developmentoptimization and validation.

Expertise in molecular biology includingcreation of stable cell lines for target evaluation

A demonstrated ability to work with largeexperimental data sets including statistical analyses.

Experience in neurodegenerative and neurologicaldisease research

Ability to work and think independently andcontribute as a part of a highly matrixed team

Selfmotivation ability to multitask capacityto handle multiple and changing priorities as well as fluctuations in theworkload

Excellent organization skills and strongattention to detail

Outstanding problemsolving skills ability toindependently analyze and present data to scientific teams excellentcommunication skills (oral and written)

Education

Ph.D. inneuroscience biochemistry or a relevant biological science with an additional3 years of relevant industry experience in assay development and highthroughput screening or a B.S./M.S. with equivalent experience
