What Youll Be Doing
The Capital Markets arm of CIBC provides corporate government and institutional clients with innovative solutions to help them raise capital and grow and invest actively throughout North America and key financial centres around the world. To deliver on its vision to be our clients preferred capital markets banking partner across multiple products and services both in Canada and where our core competencies can be exported. The Capital Markets mission is to bring Canadian Capital Markets products to Canada and the rest of the world and also bring the world to Canada.

How Youll Succeed
Research As a Research Associate you will work closely with Research Analysts covering Metals & Mining and Base Metals sectors. You will develop a depth of knowledge in financial analysis covered industries and the capital markets. In the role they will gain valuable experience in gathering information researching companies and industries leveraging primary secondary and alternative sources and recognizing and analyzing industry trends. The associate will also be active writing reports as well as developing and maintaining financial models.
Client Focus In cooperation with the Research Analysts they will participate in regular calls with public companies to get direct data from the senior management teams as well as ad hoc calls meetings and industry events. The position also provides the opportunity to liaise with our Sales Trading Investment Banking colleagues and clients as required.
Who You Are
You have attained relevant education. Preference is given to candidates who possess an Accounting Designation. Candidates with an MBA or CFA will also be considered particularly those with a prior technical background (Engineering Geology Mining). Please include a writing sample along with your cover letter resume and transcripts.
You can demonstrate relatable professional experience. Experience at an Accounting Firm or in the Mining industry is preferred. At a minimum we are looking for a candidate with a strong interest in the Capital Markets industry demonstrated through school courses clubs and/or related work experience. Previous Capital markets experience is preferred but not required.
You know that details matter. Excellent analytical and quantitative skills. Ability to complete and explain detailed financial and statistical analysis. Strong multitasking and time management skills. Ability to work independently in a fastpaced deadlineoriented environment.
You are technically savvy. Excellent knowledge of PC applications (i.e. Excel Word PowerPoint Access)
Youre motivated by collective success. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Strong interpersonal skills to deal effectively with internal and external clients.
