POSITION SUMMARY:
Create and maintain packaging BOM and manage the ERP structure in order to satisfy the requirements of the Customer Marketing Manufacturing and Distribution. Support both internally manufactured product and Outpurchased product. Work with Global Packaging Engineering to design new product packaging and packaging methods. Recommend and provide economic and productivity analyses of packaging and material handling projects; responsible for the design development establishment and maintenance of packaging specifications and procedures for the Gates Corporation.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:List the essential functions that are core to this position and represent at least 5 of the incumbents time. Other duties may be assigned beyond the core functions listed below.

Create final packaging specification to assure product finishing is complete accurate and efficient.

Develop and maintain packaging BOMs for products (both manufactured and outpurchased) and align specification with product BOM structure.

Achieve packaging costdowns by using alternative materials or packaging methods. Analyze and report on alternatives to assure improvement.

Consult IT and Canias to create and maintain ERP structure to assure proper operation. Create product mother/child hierarchy to assure efficient management and reporting on related products.

Coordinate with international affiliates and customers to ensure packaging satisfies their requirements. Solve export damage problems resulting from improper packaging.

Implement regulatory requirements as noted by company regulatory or legal departments.

Create proper reporting to measure progress.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Functions as an individual contributor with no supervisory responsibilities.
QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge skill and/or ability required.
Experience in product specifications packaging and manufacturing processes. Understanding of packaging materials. 4 years experience in manufacturing packaging or industryrelated function.
- Understanding of product specifications Bill of Materials content and ERP systems hierarchy.
- Knowledgeable regarding the various packaging container styles including their costs ease of use protection potential durability etc.
- Knowledgeable regarding protection techniques applicable to Gates products including choice of materials carton styles palletload strengthening or stabilization etc.
- Understanding of various print methodologies used on packaging materials.
- Excellent communication skills both verbal and written. Candidate will communicate frequently with a wide variety of associates.
- Aptitude for writing and managing work instructions and packaging specifications.
- Excellent technical aptitude with strong analytical organizational planning and leadership skills.
- Ability to juggle multiple projects simultaneously in a multitasking environment.
- A believer in a team environment where individual success means the teams success.
- Heightened attention to detail
- Ability to work autonomously or with minimum supervision.
- Experienced with Microsoft Office tools including Excel Word Project PowerPoint Access queries or alternate query tool desired.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
While performing the duties of this job the employee is frequently required to sit; use hands to finger handle or feel objects tools or controls; and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand walk and reach with hands and arms. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision.
