Job Description
The Department of Physics at the University of Florida (UF) has an opening for a fulltime ninemonth tenuretrack Assistant Professor in theoretical particle physics to begin August 16 2025. We seek highly qualified candidates from all areas of theoretical particle physics. Present faculty members have expertise in beyond the Standard Model physics particle astrophysics cosmology gravitational wave physics and quantum gravity.
This position offers the opportunity to interact with the Departments extensive research efforts in complementary directions including dark matter detection (ADMX ALPS SuperCDMS) experimental particle physics (CMS Belle II DUNE) gravitational wave detection (LIGO LISA NANOGrav) theoretical astrophysics and condensed matter physics. It also provides access to the worldclass HiPerGator research computing center.
UF is the states oldest largest and most comprehensive land grant university with an enrollment of over 50000 students and was ranked 7th in the country among public universities (US News and World Report 2025 rankings) and 1st among public institutions in the Wall Street Journal 2023 survey. UF is located in Gainesville a city of approximately 150000 residents in NorthCentral Florida 50 miles from the Gulf of Mexico and 67 miles from the Atlantic Ocean and within a 2hour drive to large metropolitan areas (Orlando Tampa Jacksonville). Ph.D. degree (or equivalent) in Physics or a closely related field and have strong postdoctoral research experience.
Relevant postdoctoral research experience is preferred.
