STI/HIV Testing Counselor
Cascade AIDS Project(CAP) is the oldest and largest AIDS Service Organization (ASO) in Oregon and Southwest Washington that provides the LGBTQ community and beyond with compassionate healthcare. CAPs mission is to promote wellbeing and advance equity by providing inclusive health and wellness services for LGBTQ people people affected by HIV and all those seeking compassionate care. Cascade AIDS Projectis excited to announce that we are hiring a skilled and teamoriented STI/HIV Testing Counselor. The HIV Test Counselor conducts HIV testing at Pivot (a community space for gay/bi/trans and all MSM) CAPs Davis Street office and outreach testing sites as needed (including Multnomah Washington Clackamas and Clark counties). HIV testing shifts will require regular nights and weekends. Additional duties include: data collection and reporting of HIV/STI testing sessions monitoring and managing HIV testing room supplies data entry HIV testing quality assurance duties and other relevant duties as assigned.
This is a PartTime .5 FTE) role working out of variety of locations throughout the Portland area. The schedule for this role varies depending on staffing needs and when events are held.
Starting pay for this position is $23.29 an hour. The STI/HIV Testing Counselors pay increases with tenure and the top of the pay scale is $27.04. This is a union represented position so the compensation benefits and conditions of work are collectively bargained.
Who You Are
- High school diploma (or equivalent) with at least 6 months experience conducting HIV Counseling Testing and Referral Services.
- Strong cultural awareness of men who have sex with men transgender communities communities ofcolor & other marginalized communities or people
- Awareness of homeless and substance use issues and how these may affect or influence servicedelivery
- Ability to provide services and work with people from ethnic racial economic and sexually diversepopulations
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Must be available to work evenings and weekends
What Youll Do
- Provides highest quality HIV Counseling Testing and Referral Services in accordance with CAPguidelines and policies
- Provides staffing support to testing shifts as necessary including client intake volunteer support andensuring flow during testing hours.
- Collects and reports program data in an accurate and timely manner
- Maintains HIV/STI testing rooms and supplies
- Conducts HIV/STI testing in community settings (including public sex venues and bars) asappropriate to reach highest risk MSM
- Assists with data entry into testing databases as needed.
