TheOperating Room Technician inthisOperating Room (OR)unit protects promotes and optimizes health and abilities prevention of illness and injury and the alleviation of suffering through the diagnosis and treatment of human response and through advocacy in the care of individuals and families.
Position Overview
Provides personal care and health teaching under the supervision of a Registered Nurse to meet the needs of patient and family consistent with the policies and procedures of the Nursing Division and United Health Services Hospitals. Promotes a caring and healing environment for patientcentered care. Under general direction observes and practices sterile technique maintains asepsis anticipates and assists the surgeon as needed. Actively participates in patient care and safety. Utilizes OR supplies conservatively and operates as a team member of the OR staff.

PositionRequirements
Education/Experience
Minimum Required:
High School diploma or equivalent
Preferred:
Previous Operating Room experience
Previous Surgical Technologist experience
License/Certification
Minimum Required:
Meets the NYS Surgical Technologist Certification Law; OR Completed a Surgical Technologist program in the Armed Forces; OR Completed a nationally accredited educational program for Surgical Technologist with a nationally accredited Surgical Technologist credential
CPR Certification within 3 months of hire
