The Battery Manufacturing Engineering team is opening new highways with our nextgeneration propulsion systems. Were investing over $50 billion to build some of the most technologically advanced EV manufacturing facilities in the U.S. and E.U. to produce the next generation of Ford electric vehicles. In this position:

In this manufacturing engineering role you will work actively on Industrialization of cell / array / pack factories with a diverse multifunctional team to specify deliver and commission stateoftheart processes and equipment for the production of battery cells Arrays and Packs that meet the highest standards of quality and customer satisfaction in the New Energy Vehicles of tomorrow.

In addition to the industrialization of the Battery cell / pack industrialization you will have an exciting opportunity to innovate and develop next gen technology processes / methods to drive continuous improvement for cell $ /KWH



Responsibilities

What youll do...

Main Responsibilities Include:

  • Provide plant assistance to support launch requests and extraordinary needs w/existing cell suppliers
  • Support JV partner to develop manufacturing process: lead engineer line layouts and Implement the Battery Manufacturing processes and launch manufacturing facilities. Processes specific to electrode (mixing coat press slitting)
  • Lead simultaneous engineering with Product Purchasing and Suppliers to deliver manufacturing feasibility: Drive design for manufacturability for new Cell and Module products.

Additional Responsibilities may include:

  • Work closely with OEMs in the design of manufacturing equipment process and tooling
  • Lead development of Quality methods including process failure mode and analysis (PFMEA) associated gauging requirements and inspection methods. Deliver a Control plan per the quality strategy
  • Develop Assembly system solutions including workstation requirements (work content automated versus manual buffering strategy redundancy requirements etc.
  • Define Cycle time / OEE and other performance target with industrial engineering to develop optimal operating and labor strategies
  • Define equipment acceptance criteria including duration target results and quality inspection plan
  • Manage schedule and budget
  • Track and own change management to deliver Quality / Cost and Timing
  • Lead equipment installation and coordinate with building and utilities team
  • Lead on site equipment buyoff per acceptance procedures
  • Support plant operations to achieve System performance objectives OEE Cycle time / JPH et all
  • Enable successful process and system transition to plant operations
  • Create detailed Manufacturing Instructions to document new processes
  • Provide relevant process documentation (drawings PM plans spare parts training manuals etc
  • Create and document detailed Manufacturing process know for new technologies and methods



Qualifications

Youll have...

  • Bachelors Degree in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering
  • 5 years of Electrode manufacturing experience is a must
  • 7 years of experience/understanding of overall manufacturing processes (Battery preferred) and manufacturing business acumen
  • Experience Implementing large scale Projects as a manufacturing engineer or project manager on new specialized manufacturing lines
  • Exemplary verbal and written communication skills

Even better you may have...

  • Masters Degree in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering
  • 7 years of Electrode manufacturing experience
