Pastoral Practitioner

Your role at St John of God Ballarat Hospital

We are seeking applications for a Pastoral Practitioner to join our Ballarat hospital on a permanent parttime basis this position will include the requirement to participate in an oncall roster.

The Pastoral Practitioner works as an integral member of the multidisciplinary team for the provision of holistic pastoral services to patients and clients. The role will be responsible for the provision of emotional and spiritual support theological reflection ritual facilitation faith/belief integration establishing pastoral therapeutic relationships trauma and grief counselling and emotional intelligence.

The Position

• Capacity to understand and willingness to support and promote the Mission and Values of St John of God Health Care.

• Identify and respond to the spiritual needs of patients/clients and families which facilitates spiritual maturity theological reflection and emotional intelligence.

• Assess and reflect on patient/clients verbal and nonverbal communication.

• Partner with patients/clients families and members of the multidisciplinary team to develop a spiritual care plan in accordance with agreed interventions.

• Lead prayer worship reflection and rituals and contribute to review and development of current practice.

• Identify and respond to grief loss and bereavement issues and complexities.

• You will have experience in the provision of pastoral care in a relevant setting including SJGHC pastoral internship program and/or supervised pastoral field placement and professional development courses relevant to pastoral practice.

Successful applicants will have completed or be working towards a tertiary level qualification/study in a relevant field such as Social Work Counselling Pastoral or Nursing. You will have experience in the provision of pastoral care in a health care setting and able to deliver ritual liturgy prayer or reflection that respects other cultural and religious beliefs.

We can offer you

• Salary: $73419 to $94830 (prorata) plus 11.5 superannuation

• Permanent parttime working 15.2 hours per week (required to participate in oncall roster)
