Job Purpose

This position must have a clear understanding and thorough knowledge all aspects of the Bank Secrecy Act sanctions laws and regulations including but not limited to the USA PATRIOT Act. Must have knowledge of all applicable government regulations including but not limited to: Bank Secrecy Act and other antimoney laundering regulations OFAC regulations the USA PATRIOT Act and an in depth knowledge of the FFIEC BSA/AML Exam Manual. Will maintain knowledgeable of all BSA/AML policies procedures and regulations.

The primary focus of this position is to provide support to the branch and back office staff as well as the BSA Officer with maintaining the Banks BSA/AML compliance program and to assist in meeting and maintaining all BSA/AML compliance requirements. Hybrid work opportunities available.

Job Duties

This position is responsible for assisting the BSA Officer with the Banks Bank Secrecy Act program. This will include but not limited to:

  • Conduct OFAC 314(a) and 314(b) requests and verifications;
  • Subject Matter Expert with the Enhanced Due Diligence process and required documentation;
  • Project lead with maintaining the BSA software responding to the software reports and alerts and overseeing vendor tickets through completion;
  • Oversight and enhancement of the quality control review process;
  • Identify and investigate suspicious activity detected in BSA/AML software reports and alerts as well as reports received from staff members or law enforcement;
  • Accurately writing SAR narratives as applicable;
  • Assist with ensuring the required recordkeeping processing and reporting of all suspicious activity;
  • Attend applicable regulatory training seminars and/or conferences and read periodicals to maintain a current thorough understanding of money laundering and financing issues including policies procedures regulations industry best practices criminal activities and developing trends. This includes 12 day training outside of the office on occasion;
  • Will perform special projects as assigned. This may include leading projects.

Education Experience and Job Skills

  • Bachelors degree required or equivalent work experience.
  • Three to five years of BSA compliance experience.
  • Three to five of experience with BSA case management and/or database systems (maintaining and researching information).
  • Three to five years investigative and analytical experience.
  • CAMS certification or in pursuit of.
  • Must have excellent analytical investigative and problem solving skills.
  • Must have excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Excellent judgmental prioritization and planning skills and capable of working within multiple deadlines.
  • Ability to manage complex assignments independently and while also working effectively as part of a team.
  • PC proficient with strong word processing and spreadsheet skills.
  • Knowledge of general bank operations particularly branch cash handling procedures.
  • Extraordinary attention to detail.
  • Strong organizational and planning skills.
  • Must have ability to work in a high stress fast paced and rapidly changing environment.
  • Ability to assist in providing BSA/AML training as needed.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality in respect to the customers financial affairs.
  • Ability to interact with others (coworkers management clients or vendors) in a professional and tactful manner.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree required or comparable work experience.
  • Three to five years of experience with BSA case management and/or database systems (maintaining and researching information).
  • Three to five years investigative and analytical experience.
