Job Description

Description:

Engage with a dynamic team providing client focused solutions for simple and combined cycle gas and steam turbines conventional steam turbines hydro and nuclearpowered electrical generation. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the of fitness for service life assessments and probabilistic risk assessments of turbine rotating and stationary components. This engineering role focuses on project under the guidance of senior team members with the opportunity to foster client relationships and business development.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Perform evaluations related to design life assessment and root cause failure analysis of turbine and generator rotating and nonrotating equipment.
  • Perform thermal and structural stress analysis of turbine rotors blades casings valve bodies and other plant structures using both classic and finite element analysis methods.
  • Employ fatigue corrosion and hightemperature creep life assessment and fracture mechanicsbased growth concepts for serviceability assessment of damaged or flawed components.
  • Assist in Root Cause Analysis by providing lifing calculations of failed components.
  • Execute lifing and modeling processes and procedures for typical failure modes and components.
  • Prepare written technical reports and presentations.
  • Support development of new clients and business offerings.
  • Support development of proposals for opportunities identified.
  • Learn and implement all applicable standard Structural Integrity policies and procedures.

Required Skills/Qualifications:

  • 510 years of experience in Mechanical Engineering or related industry experience.
  • B.S or M.S degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Highly motivated selfstarter experienced with the desire to develop and grow new skills.
  • Familiarity with power generation rotating machinery including but not limited to gas turbines steam turbines generators and plant auxiliaries.
  • Working knowledge of CAD software (Solidworks is a plus) Abaqus and/or ANSYS FE software and general fracture mechanics and creep concepts.
  • Experience in life management of capital / critical assets or maintenance is a plus.
  • Basic understanding of common gas turbine and steam turbine alloys failure mechanisms and properties.
  • Ability to be actively involved in both internal and external training and development programs.
  • Computer programming experience is a plus.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills are essential as well as a working knowledge of computer software including Microsoft Office.
  • Experience in consulting sales or application engineering is a plus.
  • Professional Engineering licensure (PE) in one or more states is a plus.
