Director of Engineering AI

Job Summary: The Director of AI Engineering is responsible for driving innovation technical strategy and for Obsidian Securitys AI initiative. S/he will build and lead the AI engineering team to enhance our product suite with AI capabilities key to Obsidians growth and market differentiation. Detailed responsibilities include:

Technical/Product Deliverables:

  • Develop and execute the engineering strategy and roadmap to integrate AI technologies into our product suite.
  • Work in partnership with Product Line leaders to determine architecture and design decisions to support longterm scalability and efficiency.
  • Keep uptodate with industry trends and emerging technologies to influence product direction with a focus on innovation.

Team Management & Development:

  • Recruit onboard and retain a small but talented team of AI Engineers.
  • Lead mentor and grow early career talent. Inspire and support the team to achieve their full potential.
  • Conduct performance evaluations and provide professional development opportunities.

Collaboration & Operational Excellence:

  • Collaborate across the Engineering Org to adopt AI coding into the development process for productivity and code quality.
  • Work closely with Product Management Product Line Eng Leaders Design and Business teams to define AI technical requirements and roadmaps.
  • Articulate technical strategies challenges and decisions in a business context and align engineering priorities with the companys strategic goals.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelors or Masters degree in Computer Science Engineering or a related field.
  • 510 years of engineering experience with 3 years experience managing early career teams.
  • Proven success in hiring managing and developing early career engineers.
  • Strong technical expertise in machine learning deep learning NLP LLM and AI frameworks such as TensorFlow or PyTorch.
  • Display understanding of the broader business context including topline revenue impact and bottomline operational efficiencies.
  • Understand the demands of a fastpaced startup environment and balance the need for longterm strategic vision with shortterm priorities.
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills high emotional intelligence.

Pay Transparancy

Please note that the base pay range is a guideline and for candidates who receive an offer the base pay will vary based on factors such as work location as well as the knowledge skills and experience of the candidate. In addition to a competitive base salary this position is eligible for equity awards and may be eligible for incentive compensation based on factors such as experience skills and location.

Base Salary Range

$197000 $251000 USD
