ChristianaCare is seeking a fulltime or parttime experienced private practicing or academic Dentist with a strong background in restorative dentistry and prosthodontics including implant prosthodontics. The candidate must have completed a General Practice Dentistry Residency (GPR) program and should also have some experience in hospital dentistry and treating patients with complex medical histories. Experience treating patients in the operating room (OR) is a plus. The candidate should have experience teaching on the graduate level and should be able to continue the development of the didactic and clinical programs particularly in the areas of restorative dentistry digital dentistry and prosthodontics. The candidate should be experienced in communicating with commercial dental laboratories and establishing internal best practices regarding processes and procedures in prosthetic case management. Other expertise that the candidate has regarding various specialty or special interest areas in dentistry should be highlighted as the GPR program offers educational experience in a wide variety of educational opportunities available to the general dentist. The candidate should be comfortable with providing both positive and negative feedback to best support the development of the GPR residents. The candidate should be detailoriented able to multitask and adept in handling various high priority initiatives that could change.
ChristianaCare offers a fully accredited General Practice Dentistry residency program (eight trainees per year) which is at the forefront in education as it strives to introduce the resident to all aspects of dentistry; diagnosis and treatment planning restorative dentistry endodontics periodontics pediatric dentistry prosthetics implants and oral medicine. In addition the residents rotate with the Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery residency program. Our dental residents rotate in Emergency Medicine and Anesthesia Departments and consult in many areas of the hospital including oncology cardiology orthopedics infectious disease and nephrology as well as treating medically and cognitively compromised patients in the clinic. The Program has a didactic program which complements the residents clinical exposure. Also there are more than sixty volunteer attending dentists on staff who teach and help in the clinic as well as lending didactic support and expertise.
ChristianaCare is a regional referral center for Delaware and surrounding states as well as a major provider of primary medical and dental care. In addition to the General Practice Dentistry residency the Department also offers a fully accredited Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery residency program.
Applicants must be a graduate of an accredited US or Canadian Dental School with a DMD or DDS degree and have completed an accredited US or Canadian General Practice Dentistry residency program or advanced specialty residency education.
