The Joliet Slammers are looking for curious and driven data analytics interns to join the analytics department for the 2025 season! As an intern you will use data to inform decisionmaking processes and onfield outcomes in regard to aspects such as advance scouting reports player development tasks and modeling projects. You will collaborate with other interns analysts players and coaches on a daily basis. The best candidates for this role will be those with a demonstrated passion for data analysis in baseball.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Create advance scouting reports on a daily basis and communicate these reports to players and coaches
Collaborate with other members of the analytics department in the creation of scouting reports and other projects
Pitch Tracking of all home games
Contribution of new ideas projects and concepts to help the Slammers find an edge on the field
Assist in ad hoc player development tasks such as setting up and breaking down batting practice and other duties as assigned
Requirements:
Has completed or is pursuing a degree from an accredited institution preferably in Data Science Statistics Computer Science Economics or related field
Willingness to relocate or be local to Joliet Illinois
Strong baseball knowledge
Strong communication and collaboration skills
Preferred skills:
Experience with R or Python to perform data analysis
Prior experience playing or working in baseball
Demonstrated prior research projects preferably in baseball
Compensation:
This is an unpaid internship with the opportunity for college credit.
