Job Description

This position is a key member of the Finance team responsible for driving the financial reporting process and preparation of the consolidated financial statements of JD Finish Line and will collaborate extensively with crossfunctional leaders. Will monitor internal controls effectiveness and compliance oversee the monthly financial reporting process present accurate and timely results to Sr. Management oversee the halfyear review and annual audit. This leader should effectively exhibit JD Finish Lines core values of Customer People Winning Community and Financial Responsibility in everything they do while performing the following main duties:

  • Review prepare and analyze financial information for the companys financial statements to ensure the companys reporting results and financial position are in accordance with GAAP and other accounting standards.

  • Perform quality technical analysis research including preparation of summary memoranda to be presented to management and outside auditors.

  • Compilation of the operating results and analytics comparative to budget and/or forecast.

  • Compilation of a monthly financial management report.

  • Coordinate and prepare for external auditors halfyear review and annual audits.

  • Read interpret and apply new accounting standards that apply to the company.

  • Perform all duties inherent in a managerial role including coaching and development of direct reports.

  • Oversees work responsibilities for direct Accounting reports.

  • Oversees calculating posting verifying and other duties to obtain and record financial data for use in maintaining accounting and statistical records.

  • Undertakes preparation of difficult and complex areas requiring extensive judgment.

  • Holds judgment and decision making responsibilities on key financial areas including but not limited to daily sales cash inventory and fixed assets

  • Reviews work of existing staff and trains new staff.

  • Reviews or reconciles and balances general ledger accounts.

  • Reviews or prepares and enters journal entries.

  • Researches and corrects account discrepancies.

  • Performs various accounting/analytical projects assigned by management.

  • Assists in month end closing activities and yearend audit work.

  • Prepares monthly financial packages.

  • Ensures that all reporting is in compliance with US GAAP and IFRS reporting guidelines.

  • Assists with compiling information for external reporting.

  • Researches accounting rules and regulations and makes recommendations regarding company policy.

  • Directly supervises employees.

  • Responsibilities include interviewing hiring training and mentoring employees; planning assigning and directing work; evaluating performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Required Education and/or Experience

Bachelors degree in Accounting from a fouryear college or university or equivalent combination of education and experience. Four to six years of experience in corporate or public accounting. Retail accounting experience is a plus. CPA Certification preferred.

Required Computer and/or Technical Skills

Should have strong knowledge and abilities with Microsoft Office software specifically Microsoft Excel.
