SAFETY: The superintendent must manage and provide leadership that results in a safe work environment. He is responsible and accountable for the safety of the foremen and crews under his direction and must understand and accept the importance of the role. The superintendent provides direction leadership supports and holds those subordinate to him responsible and accountable for meeting their responsibilities goals and provides the necessary information and leadership in that regard.
LEADERSHIP and SUPERVISION: The superintendent is accountable for the supervision of the foremen determines priorities and the efficient organization of foremen and work crews and must understand and consistently apply Basic Industrys policies and procedures. The superintendent is required to be involved and supportive of any day to day disciplinary decisions and those additional discipline actions deemed appropriate by Project Management Safety or Human Resources.
TRAINER MENTOR and COACH: The superintendent is the primary trainer of his foremen. He is responsible for providing safety and craft training to those assigned or making sure that the training takes place. The superintendent should mentor and coach his foremen by evaluating leadership skills communications time management and performance and providing constructive feedback as necessary.
PLANNING and SCHEDULING: The superintendent is accountable for following project plans and schedules and ensuring that the foremen under his direction perform daily and weekly activities to meet production goals. In addition the superintendent is responsible for evaluating work schedule and making sure he/she has the right mix of craftsmen and report shortages to the scheduler.
EMPLOYEE RELATIONS: The superintendent is accountable for the adherence to HR policies and procedures and must hold foremen and crew under his direction accountable to the same. The superintendent supports and provides information and leadership to the individuals assigned to him as it relates to their responsibilities.
QUALITY CONTROL: The superintendent is accountable for ensuring the work done meets or exceeds customers standards and for implementing work processes to improve productivity and product quality.
ADMINISTRATION: The superintendent is accountable for the preparation and administration of applicable reports and documents.
