Position Summary

Under the general supervision of the Operations Director the Building Engineer will perform a variety of skilled and unskilled activities involved in the operation and maintenance of the facilitys mechanical and electrical system and general operations.

This role pays an hourly wage of $22.00

Responsibilities

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Operate monitor repair (within reason) and maintain the facilitys environmental controls HVAC and plumbing systems as required for the safe and efficient operation of the facility.
  • Maintain service on various items such as motors compressors ice machines commercial kitchen equipment and commercial restrooms.
  • Follow the preventive maintenance program energy management program and standard operating procedures for all machinery and equipment.
  • Perform repairs and maintenance tasks such as filters and belts as required.
  • Record and log all work performed complete work order slips and compile all required reports in a timely and complete manner.
  • Assist other Operation Department divisions to expedite event conversions as needed.
  • Respond to routine precautionary and emergency alarms from building automation and life safety systems.
  • Work with the building electrician.
  • Assist maintenance department with work orders such as maintaining walls (interior and exterior) of entire complex including all drywall repairs sanding and repainting as needed.
  • Develop and maintain an effective working relationship with clients employees exhibitors patrons and others encountered in the course of employment.
  • Review event documents for engineering/operational requirements.
  • Maintain inventory of supplies.
  • Frequent bending carrying moving climbing working from various heights lifting 1550 pounds sitting exposure to moderate to loud noises extensive walking through the building.
  • Work independently exercising judgement and initiative.
  • Work effectively under pressure and or/stringent schedule and produce accurate results.
  • Operate equipment such as forklifts scissor lifts or other light powerdriven equipment.
  • Other duties as assigned.

As this position is classified as Essential Personnel mandatory overtime may be required. Additionally an employee may be required to work before and/or after regularly scheduled shifts and/or work through breaks and lunchtime. Employee must be available to work as needed during evenings weekends and holidays.

Qualifications

Required Experience & Qualifications:

  • To perform this job successfully an individual must possess the ability to perform all essential duties and responsibilities in a satisfactory manner. Must possess a valid drivers license and have a reliable form of transportation. Due to essential personnel status must maintain an effective way to be reached after normal work hours.
  • Must be adaptable with the ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to operate monitoring controls and a personal computer using arena CMMS software 24/7 Work Order System Windows) and Microsoft Office software and Email.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with an expert ability to present and communicate new ideas and concepts.
  • Ability to work nontraditional hours including nights weekends and holidays.
  • Experience in stadiums arenas and/or convention centers is preferred.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Operate equipment such as light trucks pallet jacks forklifts boom lifts scrubbing machines and/or Zamboni.
  • Possess a demonstrated knowledge of ice making and maintaining principles.
  • Ability to read and comprehend blueprints drawings and other related materials.

Working Conditions:

  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule inclusive of weekends nights and holidays required.
  • Working from various heights.
  • Extensive time spent with moderate to loud noises.
  • Frequent bending lifting 50 pounds sitting exposure to multiple external elements extensive walking through the building.
