Oversee and coordinate the in vivo nonhuman primate work.
Conducting behavioral training such as pole and collar training as well as motor training and trains all other lab members on NHP behavior.
Organize and schedule activities/recording sessions in conjunction with the experimental design do the animal care and use records and act as a liaison between our lab and LAR.
Contribute to the processing analysis and interpretation of data and contribute to manuscripts/grant proposals etc.
Maintain a current Laboratory Notebook documenting all calculations work experiments and other pertinent research information.
Will perform training and research with live animal models and postmortem samples.
Draft technical reports based on collected data.
Assist in experimental design and workflows to optimize data collection and analysis.
Perform collaborative studies with other research laboratories at KUMC.
Participate in maintaining daytoday laboratory operation that includes ordering supplies cleanup routine animal maintenance and maintenance of equipment.
Required Qualifications:
Education:
Masters Degree in biomedical or veterinary sciences. Education may be substituted for experience on a year for year used to substitute education is in addition to any required work experience.
Work Experience:
Minimum four 4 years of experience with large animal training and testing.
Minimum four 4 years of experience with training support staff on animal behavior.
Minimum two 2 years of experience leading scientific trials.
Preferred Qualifications:
Work Experience:
Experience performing in vivo technical procedures.
Skills
Proficient experience with Matlab and other quantitative laboratory tools.
Highly motivated to learn assertive detail orientated organized can prioritize multiple tasks and work independently.
Sound judgement strong analytical skills and exceptional interpersonal skills.
