Job Description

Position Summary
The Department of Anthropology at Indiana University Bloomington seeks applicants for a tenuretrack Assistant or Associate Professor position in Biological Anthropology with a focus in Anthropological Genetics. This is a cohire with the undergraduate interdisciplinary Human Biology Program; teaching will be equally split between the two units. We are particularly interested in a scholar with an active laboratory and/or fieldbased research program in Anthropological Genetics that is informed by evolutionary theory and that addresses questions of broad anthropological significance. We encourage applications from candidates who contribute to the Department Program and Universitys priorities for diversity inclusion and equity. Topical specializations are open but priority will be given to candidates with research interests that complement foci in the Department including humanenvironmental interactions food and diet health and modern human variation. Candidates whose work considers the microbiome are especially encouraged to apply. The candidate is expected to complement and strengthen Anthropologys undergraduate and graduate curriculum as well as collaborate with colleagues across Anthropologys subfields in research teaching and service. The candidate is expected to develop and maintain a research program that can be supported by external funding. The candidate should demonstrate ability and interest in innovative undergraduate interdisciplinary teamteaching in the Human Biology Program. The candidate should also be qualified to teach a large introductory class in biological anthropology and upperlevel and graduate courses in their areas of expertise in the Department of Anthropology.
