Job Summary
Harvard Pilgrim Health Care Institute is currently seeking a highly motivated individual to join the Division of Therapeutics Research and Infectious Disease Epidemiology (TIDE) within Harvard Medical Schools Department of Population Medicine () as a Research Fellow. TIDE is the home of several large complex multiinstitutional research initiatives that support major national public health activities. Key Responsibilities/Duties
Leads or participates in pharmacoepidemiologic comparative effectiveness or patientcentered outcomes research projects using HIE/Health Data Utility (HDU) data.
Participates in the development of grant proposals research protocols surveillance plans and analysis plans.
Prepares manuscripts detailing research findings and submits to peerreviewed journals.
Participates in development of new analytic and datasharing methods.
Conduct preliminary data analysis on Connxus HIE/HDU data for use in future proposals and funded projects
Use expertise and knowledge of clinical workflows Electronic Health Record (EHR) data and clinical terminologies (e.g.: ICD CPT SNOMED LOINC) to conduct data science projects related to improving equitable patient health outcomes
Presents research findings within and outside of the department.
Works closely with DPM faculty mentor to monitor progress and resolve issues that arise during the course of the research.
Other duties and projects as assigned.
Qualifications
Doctoral degree such as an MD PhD or ScD or in final stage of doctoral program in epidemiology biostatistics bioinformatics health services research or related field.
Advanced knowledge of epidemiologic methods and biostatistics.
Familiar with statistical software such as SAS and R.
Ability to learn techniques for analyzing complex electronic healthcare data.
Strong written and interpersonal communication skills.
Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
Ability to meet deadlines and work within budgets.
Working Conditions and Additional Requirements:
Must be able to work under normal office conditions and work from home as required.
Work may require simultaneous use of a telephone/headset and PC/keyboard and sitting for extended durations.
May be required to work additional hours beyond standard work schedule.
