NMILC is seeking a Senior Accountant/Grant Manager whois anexperienced accounting professional whoindependently performsfinancial grant and contract management and reporting budgeting funder compliance and contract billing and well as daily accounting and payroll functions. You will be the organizational lead on all grant and contract billing financial compliance spending monitoring and reporting.
Yourealso responsible for most aspectsofthemonth endclose process andassistingthe Director ofFinance withaccount analysis andreconciliation accountingresearchandfinancial statement preparation.You alsocoordinate andmanagefinancial grant monitoring visits andthe annual audit with oversight of the Director of Finance.You provide mentorship training and or supervision for other accounting staff and work collaboratively with other staff to track grant funds develop grant budgets manage the accounting of grant revenues and expenses and ensure the accuracy of financial and grant reporting.Youensure that financial operations run smoothly and meet the needs expectations and deadlines of staff and funders that the fiscal and personnel policies are adhered to and work in collaboration with the Finance Director and team to improve financial systems to enhance organizational efficiency.
The ideal candidate can be relied on to keep the finance team on track with deadlines and projects and ensure that no balls are dropped and is an individual withgreat customerrelationskills organizational and record keeping skills.
General Ledger Activities
Reconcile general ledger accounts by researching collaborating and communicating with others inside and outside organization
Executes payroll and payroll related entries
Records monthly accruals prepaids and depreciation journal entries
Performs cash receipts management
Records and reconciles other accounts/or transactions as assigned.
Supports the annual audit and tax return work
Grant Management
Performs grantrelated postaward accounting functions such as expense and revenue monitoring grant and contract billing accounts reconciliation reimbursement requests fiscal and financial reporting.
Manages and maintains grant accounting including a review of monthly program reports and communicates with Program Managers and Grant/Contract Team on grant status.
Creates grant budgets and performs budget revisions as needed.
Monitors grant/contract spending and creates monthly spending reports.
Review payables to ensure proper grant coding is applied as appropriate.
Prepares the schedule of Expenditures of Federal Awards in conformance with state law and the Code of Regulations and provides grant related information to external and internal auditors.
Other
Develops and maintains positive relationship with internal staff funding agencies and collaborating organizations
Supervises trains and/or mentors accounting staff and interns as needed
Provides ad hoc support to the Director of Finance and provide backup support for other accounting positions and functions as needed such as for vacation breaks
Qualifications:
Bachelors degree in accounting or equivalent years of experience.
Master of Business Administrationpreferred
Threeyears ofnonprofitaccounting and/or audit experience required and a minimum of 5 years of experience preferred.
Highly desirable prior supervision or management experience
Experience with federal grant and contract billing preferred.
Must have excellentknowledge and experience using Excel and Word.
Strong competencies with QuickBooks .
Other desired qualities:
Training and mentorship experience with staffinternsand volunteers preferred.
Strong ability to give and receive feedback and growthoriented mindset.
Proven ability to prioritize tasks confidence to question existing processes and manage deadlines.
Strong writing skills; ability to draft narratives for budgets and financialreports.
Experience managing grant reporting budget development and analysis.

Our Salary and Benefits
This is a fulltime position. Salary is competitive for our field and geographic area and is commensurate with experience. Salary range starting at $76440
NMILC currently offers a generous benefits package including:
100 of Individual Employee Health Premium paid by NMILC for the Base Plan and 50 for dependents. Buyup Plan also available.
