Job Description

Hours: fulltime 37.5 hours per week) Monday through Friday with one evening required weekly

Location: burg VA 24501

Position Summary

The Clinician LMHP or LMHPE will provide in person assessment and shortterm treatment to youth residing at the local Juvenile Detention Center. Services will include assessment consultation case management crisis intervention treatment planning and individual and group therapy to address both mental health and substance use issues. Services will be provided Monday through Friday with two evenings required each week.

Required Education and Experience

  • Masters Degree from a program that prepares individuals to practice counseling 60hr Masters Program) which is offered by a college or university accredited by a regional accrediting agency. (Re: 54.13500 of the Code of Virginia)
  • No experience required.
  • Resident in Professional Counseling Supervisee in Clinical Social Work Resident in Licensed Marriage Family Therapy Resident in Substance Abuse Treatment or eligibility to apply for residency.Note: New hires will be expected to apply for clinical supervision and residency within 30 days of hire.
  • Prefer Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) Licensed Substance Abuse Treatment Practitioner (LSATP) Certified Psychiatric Clinical Nurse Specialist (CPCNS).

Related Knowledge Skills and Abilities

  • Knowledge of behavior modification; Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT); emergency interventions; family group and individual therapies; psychosocial education; risk assessments; sex offender treatment; substance abuse interventions; etc.
  • Knowledge of the criminal justice system. Knowledge of community mental health and public health in order to provide advocacy and enhance an individuals treatment and access to community resources.
  • Willing and available to work modified schedules (weekends holidays etc. as required.
    Ability to drive and must possess a valid drivers license. May be called upon to travel to any Horizon worksite; transport clients provide services to client @other locations. Regular attendance at trainings and Horizon meetings may require travel to a variety of Horizon sites.
