About The Team

The School of Medical Molecular and Forensic Sciences is engaged in a wide range of endeavours in the biomedical medical diagnostic food science and nutrition molecular and forensic science fields. Key research areas include infectious disease antimicrobial resistance immunology cancer biology microbiology forensic biology food science and human nutrition. The School offers fascinating and exciting undergraduate and postgraduate teaching programs and is committed to providing a highquality educational experience for students.

Your New Role!

The School of MMFS is currently seeking to appoint a biochemist who has had substantial experience in the clinical diagnostic industry and in the education of Laboratory Medicine students.

The successful candidate will contribute to the Universitys AIMSaccredited Bachelor degree in Laboratory Medicine and in particular to the year 3 and 4 units Clinical Biochemistry I and Clinical Biochemistry II. The appointee is also expected to play a major role in assisting with or leading coordination of the course.

To be considered for the role applicants will have a demonstrated capacity to combine expertise in clinical biochemistry with academic responsibilities and will have had prior experience in the delivery of a Laboratory Medicinetype course. Candidates who additionally have a PhD and a research track record would be at an advantage.

Your Key responsibilities will include

Position Description Level B Lecturer in Clinical Biochemistry

  • Contribute to teaching and learning activities within the Laboratory Medicine Program.
  • Design develop and coordinate undergraduate units in Laboratory Medicine with a focus on industry relevance.
  • Engage with Industry Partners to enhance teaching and research opportunities.
  • Provide academic advice and mentorship to undergraduate students fostering an inclusive learning environment.
  • Undertake research in Laboratory Medicine and contribute to quality publications.
  • Collaborate with colleagues in research and teaching initiatives within the School.

Position Description Level C Senior Lecturer in Clinical Biochemistry

  • Significantly contribute to academic leadership within the Laboratory Medicine program.
  • Coordinate develop design and teach units in Laboratory Medicine.
  • Engage with industry and other external stakeholders to develop partnerships and progress the interests of the School and the University.
  • Consult with and provide advice to undergraduate students demonstrating the ability to create an environment that fosters learning to engage a diverse range of students.
  • Promote and contribute to research excellence individually and as a member of a team and produce quality publications.
  • Engage with and substantially contribute to leadership in the School the University the profession and the discipline area.

Position Description Level D Associate Professor in Clinical Biochemistry

  • Provide strategic leadership in the Laboratory Medicine program including curriculum innovation and development.
  • Lead the design coordination and delivery of core teaching units with a strong emphasis on practice and professional application.
  • Drive industry engagement establishing highlevel partnerships to advance the Universitys research and teaching profile.
  • Deliver highquality teaching informed by contemporary practice ensuring alignment with accreditation and professional standards.
  • Lead research programs and secure competitive funding contributing to research excellence.
  • Supervise PhD and research students fostering a culture of research excellence.
  • Play a significant leadership role within the School University and professional bodies.
  • Mentor and support junior academic staff in their career development.
