Leland Farmers Company founded in 1904 is seeking a seasoned and experienced grain accountant that can help propel the company forward. Candidates first and primary role would be grain accounting and secondary role would be grain origination and customer service.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Provides direction controls and makes recommendations to the General Manager about the financial audit preparation tax investment and insurance activities of the company.
Prepares financial reports and budgets summarizing and forecasting company business activities and financial position in the areas of income expenses and earnings based on past present and expected operations.
Ensures that all activities are completed in advance for both month end accounting and the year end audit function at the end of each fiscal year to provide the GM with future projections and save audit time and expense.
Able to assist the DM with developing and implementing planning and compliance for all federal state and local taxes.
Prepares reports required by regulatory agencies. Delegates authority for receipt disbursement banking protection and custody of funds securities and financial instruments.
Evaluates need for procurement of funds and investment of surplus. Advises GM on investments and loans.
Analyzes and organizes office operations and procedures for all accounting payroll personnel and administrative responsibilities.
OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS
Interact with customers via phone and/or in person to communicate and provide information regarding our company grain policies and procedures.
Provide cash basis hedge to arrive or other specific contracts offered by LFC.
Enter grain purchase contracts efficiently and accurately into the accounting system.
Maintain and develop the customer base through phone calls emails walk in traffic etc.
Daily interaction with the management team to ensure commodity position balances via reconciliation of cash contracts and futures activity.
Performs all other duties as assigned such as operating the scale when needed.
REQUIREMENTS
Normally requires a bachelors degree in accounting or finance and at least 6 years experience in accounting or finance or a related area to demonstrate financial leadership in the areas of risk analysis cost/benefit analysis internal controls auditing and budgeting.
A CPA certification is strongly preferred.
Demonstrated essential abilities including business knowledge collaboration communication customer focus decision making and skill development.
Must have and maintain a valid drivers license and satisfactory driving record. Must be able to travel independently and overnight.
Must be able to work hours beyond those considered normal.

This is a fulltime exempt position that will report to the General manager of the cooperative.
