EDUCATION : Certificate Associate or Bachelors Degree in Radiation Therapy. Applicants must be registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists in Radiation Therapy or be registry eligible to sit for the exam. Licensure by the state of Florida Department of HRS in Radiation Therapy Technology is required. Continuing educational hours are required to maintain the registered status for the State of Florida and the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists. EXPERIENCE : No minimum experience level set. Therapist may be a new graduate. Therapist must be able to use or learn all computer systems and equipment in the department(i.e. ARIA record and verify system VARIAN linear accelerators GE CT Simulator Elekta Gamma Knife and HDR).COMPETENCY: Demonstrates ability to ensure quality images (KV MV and CBCT) are obtained and accurately analyzes for proper alignment and precise treatment delivery. JOB KNOWLEDGE: Three months of onthejob training may be necessary to become familiar with specific department procedures and operations. ADDL CONSIDERATIONS: Must be able to tolerate frequent stooping pushing pulling and lifting as required when moving patient or equipment during treatment. Due to nature of work good interpersonal skills and sensitivity are necessary. Must be able to work with patients and their families when dealing with the diagnosis and treatment of cancer. Licensure by the state of Florida Department of HRS in Radiation Therapy Technology is required.
