Description
Collins has an opening for anEntryLevel Engineerin ourChesterton IN office. In this role you will have the opportunity to work on a variety of design and inspection projects including bridge waterfront roadway and construction temporary works projects and will be mentored by experienced engineers in the office and field. This is a unique chance to be exposed to multiple disciplines within the transportation industry and offers the opportunity to diversify your skill set.
Typical Duties and Responsibilities:
- Perform design and inspection/field work that does not require previous experience.
- Assist in the completion of inspection and assessment reports.
- Prepare design computations and quantity estimates.
- Uses computerassisted engineering and design software and equipment to prepare calculation packages and design drawings.
- Can include limited communication with clients.
- Instructs draftspersons/technicians on design drawings data entry and report preparation.
- Field work is required which could include nights and weekends.

Qualifications
Education and/or Experience:
- Senior or a recent graduate with a bachelors degree in civil engineering from an accredited university.
- An emphasis in structural engineering is preferred.
- At a minimum coursework should include the following:
- Structural Analysis
- Steel Design
- Concrete Design
- Previous software experience in AutoCAD MicroStation Bluebeam or Civil 3D is a plus.
- Previous software experience in Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe PDF or other PDF editing software is a plus.
- A valid drivers license.
