Job Description

L.V. Rogers Secondary School has a vacancy for a 0.25 FTE Science 10 Teacher. The position will be teaching 1 block Mondays and Tuesdays and 2 blocks Thursday. This position is due to a leave.

The awarded applicant will have recent demonstrated successful experience working collaboratively with school staff. The awarded applicant will be innovative creative inclusive and demonstrate an understanding of the BC Ed Plan and the District and school Inclusion Plan. They will be a person who is continually striving to improve pedagogy in a changing educational environment.

School District #8 (Kootenay Lake) is located in the southern Interior of British Columbia Canada and serves the Lower Kootenay Band and the communities of Kaslo Meadow Creek Crawford Bay Creston Wynndel Yahk Nelson Salmo South Slocan Winlaw Slocan and the surrounding rural areas. The School Board Office is located in Nelson B.C. Our schools are dispersed geographically and range in size and composition:

13 elementary schools
1 middle school
1 K10 school
4 secondary schools
2 K12 schools
online learning and blended programs
an extensive array of program options including Aboriginal Education Late French Immersion Outdoor Programs and a strong International Program.

The annual pay range for a full time teacher is $63367 to $111488 with placement on the range based on experience and qualifications in accordance with the collective agreement.


Qualifications:
Bachelor of Education (Middle or Secondary)
A valid BC teaching certificate and current membership in the Teacher Regulation Branch;

Teachers applying for this position must possess the following attributes:
Willingness and ability to work closely with parents;
Excellent classroom management skills;
Knowledge and use of current inclusive instructional practices and curriculum;
Demonstrated application of inclusive education practices;
Strong interpersonal communication and collaboration skills;
Recent demonstrated successful experience in a middle or high school
setting;
A demonstrated ability to work with colleagues;
Excellent organizational skills and a demonstrated ability to be flexible;
Recent training/experience in delivering a High School Science program

The ideal candidate will be expected to:
Deliver a full and inclusive Science 10 program
Employ SEL and Traumainformed practices
Work in an atmosphere of collaboration with staff to build consistency and quality of
programs
Communicate effectively with staff and parents
Be familiar with the BC Ed plan school district board goals and school goals
Implement school wide strategies to support the school boards student expectations
school and class needs
Support Individual Education Plans in a collaborative team environment
Demonstrated ability to use inclusive instruction to meet the learning needs of diverse learners.
Demonstrated knowledge and experience in working from an inclusion perspective to address diverse learning needs.
Participate in ongoing professional development and develop a personal growth plan
Demonstrate expertise in use of authentic assessment strategies
Demonstrate a willingness to work collaboratively with others in developing school and districtbased initiatives
Demonstrate knowledge of using technology to support student learning
