The Student Innovation Center is looking for a Building Security Services Specialist II to manage daily access surveillance and security issues. This role involves developing and maintaining a security program to protect university property and ensure a safe environment. Key responsibilities include monitoring security cameras responding to incidents coordinating security systems and collaborating with staff and external departments. The specialist will also help develop security policies evaluate risks and supervise student employees.
We are looking for a candidate that has strong ethical decisionmaking and communication skills a thorough understanding of university policies and systems and proficiency with various computer programs. You should be detailoriented proactive and skilled in building relationships with a strong focus on security. This position provides event and building support through a communityorientated approach to safety and security.
Work Schedule: The anticipated schedule for this position is Sunday Thursday 4:00 p.m. 1:00 a.m.
About Us: The Student Innovation Center is a dynamic hub designed to foster creativity and collaboration among students from all disciplines. It features a variety of facilities including makerspaces for 3D printing glass blowing embroidery woodworking podcasting and virtual reality as well as a digital media studio for video and photo production. The center also offers open collaboration spaces private meeting rooms event spaces and specialized labs like the Digital Modeling and Visualization Lab.
Example of Duties
Coordinates configures operates and maintains physical and electronic security systems.
Oversees and coordinates with staff on access and maintenance for security systems.
Collaborates with vendors and contractors for security support.
Assists in developing policies and procedures related to building access surveillance and security.
Level Guidelines
Intermediatelevel position with solid professional and/or technical skills working under general supervision to achieve goals
Applies broad working knowledge of the principles of the field to moderately complex difficult and varied problems and issues
Exercises judgment within defined procedures and practices to determine appropriate action and resolve problems
Responds to a broad range of inquiries and requests
May provide training and/or direction to lowerlevel staff
May lead projects of moderate scope and complexity
Provides guidance to students
