Summary
Temporary opportunity. TermLimited Temporary positions are atwill positions but are eligible for benefits. This TLT is currently anticipated to last until December 31 2025.However funding sources for this work remain uncertain and dependent upon decisions actively being made at both the federal and local levels. As a result the end date of this position may be adjusted based on those decisions. The County and the Department continue to work to secure long term funding sources.
This vacancy can also be filled as a Special Duty opportunity. For Special Duty Assignment interest you must be a Career Service Career Service Exempt or other regular (nontemporary) employee in King County who has completed their initial County probation. You must have supervisor approval prior to taking a Special Duty Assignment.

Must be available to work during Sexual Health Clinic hours. Typical work schedule is Monday through Friday 8:00 am to 5:30 pm. Hours are subject to change based on the needs of the community and HIV/STD Program. This position will require some evening and weekend hours.
Work Location
The primary location for this position is at the Harborview Medical Center located at 908 Jefferson St. Seattle WA 98104.

Job Duties
- Educate new patients about the Max Clinic and ensure that appropriate enrollment paperwork is filled out .
- Outreach to patients due for followup visits.
- Escort Max patients toappointments blood draws immediate imaging ED admissions etc.
- Create and sustain relationships with emergency room social work teams at NW Hospital UWMC and HMC to navigate systems to efficiently approach potential Max patients.
- Serve as aliaisonfor each Max Clinic patient and help them to navigate the broader health care system as well as medical care within the Max Clinic.
- Provide psychosocial supporttailored to patients level of need.
- Troubleshoot and address barriers to care and adherence.
- Coordinate with other case managers and community providers to support engagement in care
- Education and counseling re: HIV and medication adherence.
- Educate community providers and agencies about Max Clinic
- Respond to calls from front desk notify entire team of patients arrival room patients and triage needs.
- Assess services needed that day for each patient and prepare Max Clinic patients to see the providerscheduling in EMR asking nursing team to obtain vitals.
- Process patient specimens and transport the specimens to the HMC lab for testing.
- Maintain the safety of the clinic environment by implementing appropriate infection control protocols responding to inappropriate patient behavior and deescalating patients in crisis.
- Participate in daily team huddles tocommunicate critical patient updates that require followup Jail Testing
- Investigate case reports of persons diagnosed with syphilis Interpret diagnostic testing results inform patients of results and link positive patients to treatment
- Interview patients diagnosed with syphilis and to elicit partner information.
- Contact untreated patients and notify exposed partners that are currently incarcerated to arrange for examination diagnosis and/or medical treatment.
- Perform rapid point of care tests and venipuncture to collect STI specimens for testing.
- Provide patients with information about potential health risks related to STIs/HIV and assist in developing a clientcentered planto reduce future risk for STIs/HIV.
- Assure confidentiality of all records data and information as required by section department state and/or federal regulation.

Experience Qualifications Knowledge Skills
Our ideal candidate will demonstrate the following (Minimum):
- Demonstratedinterviewing and elicitation (the act of obtaining drawing out or bringing out responses of others) skills.
- Knowledge of HIV and STD transmission modes symptoms and implications.
- Ability to provide HIV/STD health information simply and concisely.
- Demonstrated ability to protect Public Health Information (PHI) and other confidential information.
- Ability to follow procedures/protocols and apply them to unpredictable situations.
- Effective and respectfulverbal and written communication skills.
- Knowledge skills and abilities in the areas of medical terminology diagnosis and treatment.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective respectful working relationships.
- Able to speak and write effectively resulting in good notes and reports.
- Experience with computer applications including Word Excel Access and web browsing.
- Ability to work independently and exercise good judgmentin making decisions.
- Experience in medical chart abstraction using electronic health records and/or other client level data repositories
- Experience working in amultidisciplinary clinicsetting and jailbased setting.
- Knowledge and demonstrated application ofbehavior change theory and risk reduction strategies.
- Demonstrated ability tofollow procedures/protocols and apply them to unpredictable situations.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively and connect with people of diverse backgrounds.
- Ability to function with minimal direct supervision.
- Team player with a willingness to be flexible.
- Must be available to work onsite at both Jail Health Services locations.
- Phlebotomy experience.
- Documentation of current BLS CPR certification with AED training required at time of hire.
- Possess a valid WA State drivers license or ability to obtain one within 90 days of hire.
- Bilingual in Spanish.
- Experience interacting with vulnerable populations; particularly those who have been incarcerated unstably housed who might engage in sex work or have mental health issues
