Job Description

Summary


Department of Public Health Seattle & King County is recruiting for a Disease Research & Intervention Specialist (DRIS) to join our team. This position will work primarily out of the Sexual Health Clinic at the Harborview Campus. The DRIS will provide support to the Max team and conduct testing for HIV HCV and syphilis at King County correctional facilities. For Max Clinic the DRIS provides nonmedical case management for clients of the MAX Clinic at the Public Health Seattle & King County Sexually Transmitted Disease (STD) Clinic. Max Clinic is an invitation only drop in incentivized HIV clinic. The goal is to reach the most vulnerable populations that either have never engaged in HIV medical care or have a history of intermittent HV medical care with poor adherence to medication. MAX Clinic tries to reduce barriers of engagement in HIV care. The patients in MAX Clinic are mainly living homeless have mental illness and substance use disorder. For the testing in correctional settings component the DRIS will work at the SCORE jail and King County Correctional Facility where they will perform rapid testing for HIV syphilis and HCV. This position will also follow up on all positive cases to assure they are adequately treated and elicit any partner information. The DRIS will conduct disease surveillance rapid point of care testing patient interviewing partner collection linkage to testing or treatment counseling and referrals and timely documentation of investigation findings into surveillance systems and EPIC.


Temporary opportunity. TermLimited Temporary positions are atwill positions but are eligible for benefits. This TLT is currently anticipated to last until December 31 2025.However funding sources for this work remain uncertain and dependent upon decisions actively being made at both the federal and local levels. As a result the end date of this position may be adjusted based on those decisions. The County and the Department continue to work to secure long term funding sources.

This vacancy can also be filled as a Special Duty opportunity. For Special Duty Assignment interest you must be a Career Service Career Service Exempt or other regular (nontemporary) employee in King County who has completed their initial County probation. You must have supervisor approval prior to taking a Special Duty Assignment.

Must be available to work during Sexual Health Clinic hours. Typical work schedule is Monday through Friday 8:00 am to 5:30 pm. Hours are subject to change based on the needs of the community and HIV/STD Program. This position will require some evening and weekend hours.


Work Location

The primary location for this position is at the Harborview Medical Center located at 908 Jefferson St. Seattle WA 98104.
