As an Economic Analyst for Caterpillars Resource Industries segment you will evaluate economic commercial and competitive data to provide insights to our senior leadership team. This is a visible role cutting across functions and business divisions and is critical to helping shape operational and strategic planning decisions. In Resource Industries youll be supporting the largest machines at Caterpillar at a time when theyre on the front lines of critical topics like electrification autonomy and emissions control that will help define the world of tomorrow.
What You Will Do:
Monitor and forecast commodity market trends and align with business unit leadership on impacts to product groups
Present analysis and forecasts to management business unit leaders and industry stakeholders
Drive insights to business partners through summarization and visualization of economic data
Coordinate business intelligence reports for senior leaders focusing on market trends and customer/competitor activity
Analyze existing and emerging market trends across key commodity groups and provide guidance to longterm planning processes
Maintain and utilize networks of people and resources for obtaining competitive information.
What You Have:
Bachelors Degree in Economics Finance or related field
Accuracy and Attention to Detail: Understanding the necessity and value of accuracy; ability to complete tasks with high levels of precision.
Communicating Complex Concepts: Knowledge of effective presentation tools and techniques to ensure clear understanding; ability to use summarization and simplification techniques to explain complex technical concepts in simple clear language appropriate to the audience.
Problem Solving: Knowledge of approaches tools techniques for recognizing anticipating and resolving organizational operational or process problems; ability to apply knowledge of problem solving appropriately to diverse situations.
Relationship Management: Knowledge of relationship management techniques; ability to establish and maintain healthy working relationships with clients vendors and peers.
Planning and Organizing: Knowledge of the process of planning and arranging tasks and resources; ability to plan and organize both time and resources to get things completed while structuring and maintaining work in a systematic and highly methodical way.
Financial Markets: Knowledge of the products types competitors customer base major issues and regulatory considerations in the financial markets; ability to apply financial market knowledge to various business environments.
Financial Analysis: Knowledge of tools and approaches of financial analysis; ability to read interpret and draw accurate conclusions from financial and numerical material.
Top Candidates Will Also Have:
Prior experience with commodity markets and mining heavy construction or related industries
High levels of initiative creativity and interpersonal/communication skills to collaborate with a variety of audiences and management levels
Ability to speak technically when required but also clearly and concisely with nonfinancial audiences
Advanced Excel skills and familiarity operating the Bloomberg Terminal
