Position: Vice President Resource Development


General Purpose

The Vice President of Resource Development under the limited supervision of the CEO or delegate serves as the lead fundraising officer charged with raising $5 million in annual operating support $15M in capital support and growing the overall donor portfolio for the organization.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

Leadership Provides exceptional & resultsbased leadership management coordination for the Clubs individual and institutional fundraising efforts and will drive acquisition and retention for all contributed revenue. Serves as a role model of the Clubs mission vision values and organizational culture.

Strategic Direction & Planning Devises and implements a multiyear comprehensive campaign to fund key initiatives and general operations.

  • Set campaign and annual fundraising goals in collaboration with CEO.
  • Develop & execute plans to increase support from all philanthropic sources.
  • Provide regular reports on financials fundraising activities and benchmarking metrics to CEO Executive Team and Board

Resource Development Obtains adequate financial support and resources to meet operating and capital needs with an effort to create reserves and legacy giving.

Seeks a balance of resources protecting the organization from being overly reliant on one source. Develops maintains & leads implementation of Annual Development Plan. Plan includes:

  • Individual Foundation and Corporate Giving
  • Capital Campaigns
  • Stewardship of current donors
  • Large Events netting
  • Manages a personal portfolio of donors and prospects with high levels of capacity and inclination. Identify cultivate solicit and steward donors of all levels.

Board Development Assist the CEO and Board in recruiting and developing effective Board Members who actively govern while ensuring there are sufficient resources to meet the Mission and related strategies. Lead & staff key board committees as assigned. Manage all processes tools & communication for successful board engagement recruitment and assessment.

  • Work closely with the CEO & Board Executive Committee to identify and recruit new board members and engage board members with the development process through their advocacy and leveraging their personal networks.
  • Lead efforts to recruit & engage advisory board members in key communities.

Marketing & Public Relations Builds brand recognition in Bay Area by developing maintaining & leading implementation of annual Marketing plan including:

  • Brand voice talking points facts and documents.
  • Clubs internal and external message (Teachable Point of View)
  • Relationships with local media outlets and influencers for high agency coverage (including earned media & advertising)
  • Lead all aspects of mail email social media and website campaigns

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Commits to ongoing prospect identification through analysis of donor database external philanthropic sources and identify donors with greater capacity to support The Clubs funding priorities
  • Lead and manage the development team to personally engage in solicitation and stewardship activities
  • Serves as a voice for the organization and speaks credibly and persuasively about the The Clubs mission values and vision.

Staff ManagementFosters a dynamic Development Team and leads them in designing and implementing a comprehensive development plan to exceed the goals of the strategic vision and annual budget.

Demonstrates track record of:

  • Hiring retaining and nurturing a highperforming team.
  • Providing effective leadership mentoring and guidance in all fundraising activities.
  • Active participation in efforts to ensure a diverse equitable and inclusive internal culture.
Requirements

Education and/or Expertise

  • Fouryear college degree from an accredited college. Masters Degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience preferred in the executive management development and operation of a Boys & Girls Club (or similar organization) including board and fund development; demonstrated ability to manage budgets and control expenses.
  • Demonstrated ability to close milliondollar gifts.

Computer & Equipment Skills

  • Full indepth knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience leading donor database use.
  • A minimum of 3 years working with SharePoint.
  • Full indepth knowledge of digital marketing tools like Constant Contact Facebook Instagram etc.
  • Ability to quickly learn new computer programs.

Requirements

  • Personal vehicle valid drivers license and auto insurance strongly preferred.
  • Applicants must be able to successfully perform the essential physical functions of this position with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • The employee must occasionally lift and or move up to 50 lbs.
  • Sufficient strength agility and mobility to perform essential functions of position.
  • Requires ability to walk sit stand bend squat pull/push grasp up to 48 hours per day.
