Title: Extra Help Refrigeration Mechanic

Perform all duties peculiar to and normally required in the trade of Pipefitter following recognized procedures and techniques for such work.
1. Certificate of completion of apprenticeship as a Pipefitter under a registered Bureau of
Apprenticeship and Training program OR Experience sufficient to qualify as a journeyman
Pipefitter with a minimum of 5 years of actual work in the trade which may have included apprenticeship and/or applicable vocational training. The trade for this purpose shall include
work normally performed by Pipefitters Pipefitter Welders Refrigeration Mechanics temperature Control Mechanics Oil Burner Mechanics and Leadburners.
2. Universal Certificate of CFC Qualification (EPA 608 Technician Certification Program).
MF 7:00a3:00p (specific schedule to be determined upon hire)
Must be able to complete the following with or without a reasonable accommodation:
1. Ability to lift 80 lbs.
2. Ability to climb ladders and work at heights exceeding 30 feet;
3. Visual acuity to discern basic wiring and piping color codes;
4. Ability to gain access to and work in confined spaces;
5. Ability to speak clearly.
6. Ability to work overhead and lift weights of 60 lbs overhead for short periods of time.
7. Ability to work on knees back or stomach in confined spaces for extended periods of time.
8. Ability to bend crouch and kneel.

Extra Help employees may only work up to 28 hours per week for all University employment. Employees are only paid for hours worked and do not qualify for most benefits including health insurance and retirement with Illinois State University. However Extra Help employees are eligible to participate in the Universitys supplemental retirement savings plans 403b). Applicable retirement information is provided at the time of hire. There is no guarantee that working as Extra Help will lead to or secure permanent employment. In addition extra help employees may only work up to 900 hours total during their employment.
