General Summary of Position:
The New England Consortium (TNEC) is currently seeking a Worker Health Educator (WHE) for its Hazardous Waste Worker/Emergency Responder (ER) Health and Safety (H&S) Training Program based at the University of Massachusetts Lowell (UML) in the historic Wannalancit Mills Building.
The WHE will help lead TNECs effort for meeting its workeroriented training goals building the regional H&S movement and developing working relationships with labor environmental organizations government and business. 1. Conducts TNEC H&S training for a wide variety of individuals and diverse groups. Attends TNEC and other related training courses as needed to learn course content and training methodologies.
2. Assumes responsibility for reasonable administrative and training resource tasks as assigned by the Training Coordinator or Project Director. Assists with the maintenance of training project resources (e.g. training aids air monitoring equipment air cylinders books course forms TNEC truck. Assists with preparation and transport of equipment to away courses.
3. Participates in curriculum development and revisions to other course material including manuals computerbased training and audio visual aids.
4. Assists in the planning organization and implementation of TNEC projects including the annual assignment and mentoring of practicum internship students from the Department of Public Health inservice training sessions an annual trainthetrainer workshop and the mentoring of new TNEC trainers as directed by the Project Director or Training Coordinator.
5. Drives TNECs truck his/her personal vehicle or other rental truck to and from away courses throughout New England as needed is required. A valid drivers license and the ability to travel between training locations is required.
6. Travels to courses both in and out of state including overnight and multiday sessions The National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences (NIEHS) sponsored or associated meetings conferences seminars or other meetings as directed by the Project Director or Training Manager.
7. Attends scheduled trainers meetings inservice training sessions and an annual trainer development workshop.
8. Collaborates with internal and external partners as assigned by the Project Director or Training Manager (e.g. involvement in subcommittees at UML through the TNEC coordinating committee and/or work related to the TNEC advisory board.Collaborates with internal and external partners as assigned by the Project Director or Training Manager (e.g. involvement in subcommittees at UML through the TNEC coordinating committee and/or work related to the TNEC advisory board.
9. Attends and participates in meetings deemed necessary for maintaining adequate communication regarding project operations (e.g. project staff meetings coordinating committee meetings advisory board meetings and UML College of Health Sciences meetings.
10. Participates in all aspects of project/course/trainer evaluations. May be asked to serve as a representative for UML or TNEC for various organizations or initiatives.
Minimum Qualifications (Required):
*Will consider candidates with HS Diploma or GED/equivalent and five 5 years of related experience.
