Nebraska Medicine is seeking a fulltime Perfusionist to operate Cardiopulmonary Bypass during openheart surgeries and other medical procedures. In addition the perfusionist is responsible for other mechanical circulatory support and patient monitoring devices and techniques including: VADs ECMOHIPEC cell salvage Heart Liver and Lung transplant procedures.

Weekday & Weekend Call Required

Job Duties: Perfusionist
Provide life support to critically ill patients surgical and nonsurgical.
Required Qualifications: Perfusionist
Bachelors degree and graduation from an accredited perfusion education program required.
Demonstrate effective written and verbal communication skills required.
Ability to anticipate and respond effectively to changes in direction and priorities required.
Demonstrate a wellordered approach to problem solving required.
Experience with extracorporeal equipment e.g. heartlung machine (includes pressure monitoring coagulation and ventilation devices) CDI 500 inline blood gas monitor centrifugal pump cooler/heater autotransfusion machine ventricular assist devices (thoratec heartmate a biomed intraaortic balloon pump) required.
Knowledge of all patient care equipment policy procedure and protocol manuals computer/information systems copier/telecommunication systems required.
Meet needs of the department on a 24hour oncall notice required.
Current certification/eligibility by the American Board of Cardiovascular Perfusion (ABCP) and License eligible for the state of Nebraska or temporary license required.
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required must be from an American Heart Association (AHA) endorsed program (effective for new hires starting January 1 2023 or later).
Preferred Qualifications: Perfusionist
Prior working experience in related field preferred.
Interest in research and student perfusion education preferred.
Nebraska Cardiovascular Perfusionist license eligibility is preferred.
