Are you an expert in negotiating credit hire claims and interested in progressing your career in personal injury Here in AXA Retail weve two excellent Senior Paralegal Defendant opportunities in our Legal Services Unit team.
Our Legal Services Unit (LSU) is AXAs inhouse legal department. Its responsible for managing litigated claims on behalf of AXA and its policyholders. Youll handle challenging caseloads consisting of fasttrack claims including personal injury credit hire and bent metal disputes. Daily tasks will include drafting defences witness statements applications and preparing claims for trial.
At AXA we work smart empowering our people to balance their time between home and the office in a way that works best for them their team and our customers. Youll work at least 40 of your week away from home moving to the majority of your working week from September 2025. Away from home means either attendance at our Gloucester office visiting clients or attending industry events. Were also happy to consider flexible working arrangements which you can discuss with Talent Acquisition.
What youll be doing:
- Defending proceedings brought against AXA and/or its policy holders.
- Ensuring deadlines are met throughout the various stages of the claim.
- Handling claims to the required quality standard and within the agreed timelines as per the KPIs set.
- Promptly negotiating Personal Injury Claims.
- Discrediting credit hire claims.
- Preparing statements and drafting instructions to counsel.
- Mentoring and technical development of junior staff.
What youll bring:
- Litigation experience of credit hire/personal injury experience with a sound knowledge of Pre ActionProtocols.
- Excellent knowledge of the Road Traffic Act and Court procedures.
- Experience of working within the Civil Procedure Rules including Part 36 offers and CRU.
- Strong knowledge of PI/Credit Hire.
- Law degree and LPC ideal.
- Strong communication skills.
- Interrogative interviewing techniques and witness statement taking.
- Effective time management.
As a precondition of employment for this role you must be eligible and authorised to work in the United Kingdom.
This position has been defined as an Insurance Distribution Directive (IDD) role under the IDD regime which means that in addition to preemployment screening checks the successful candidate will be subject to background screening every 4 years with an annual declaration in interim years.
