Job Description

GENERAL SUMMARY OF DUTIES:

The PT Patient Access Manager provides leadership and operational management of the PT clinics patient access team which includes the many functions associated with registration insurance verification scheduling switchboard/reception and customer service. Responsible for the overall planning staffing and performance. Identifies opportunities for departmental improvements and implements appropriate action plans to optimize department outcomes. Assists in development and maintenance of departmental policies and procedures.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Minimum 5 years previous experience in similar or related experience required.
  • Bachelors degree in related field preferred.
  • Basic knowledge of basic business skills such as goal creation adherence to budget management.
  • Basic knowledge of compliance and risk management related to departments.
  • Basic understanding of process improvement.
  • Basic knowledge of hospital operations.
  • Organize workflow and prioritize when needed.
  • Ability to work with leader to ensure process and hospital policies are being followed.
  • Ability to use broader objectives to determine how best to utilize resources to meet goals.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Possess skills necessary to problem solve and think critically.
  • Be flexible and willing to adapt to change.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Oversees staffing and productivity of PT clinics patient access team at multiple locations
  • Supervises all front office staff leads and supervises at PT clinics
  • Reviews department performance and makes changes as needed to improve service
  • Assists in the development and of departmental policies and procedures
  • Provides professional development for staff members and conducts employee rounding
  • Responsible for PT patient access including preadmitting patients verifying insurance eligibility verifying and obtaining appropriate referrals and authorizations admitting patients reception/switch board and customer service
  • Ensures the patient access team gathers and enters accurate information from the patient into the computer system
  • Responsible for training and orienting on issues such as conditions of admission advance directive patient rights and responsibilities HIPPA and physician ownership disclosure as well as how to handle patients concerns complaints and grievances
  • Ensures requirements outlined by Joint Commission State of Texas and CMS are met
  • Develops and implements continual process improvement projects
  • Ensures appropriate resource allocation in supplies and equipment
  • Other duties as assigned
