Position Description:
Job Title: Teen Program Specialist
Classification: NonExempt
Hours per week: Monday Friday 2:00pm 6:15 pm 12:15pm6:15pm during weekly minimum days (Monday). AM shifts are Available 9:45am6:15pm
Salary: $17 $18 per hour depending on experience and education

Primary Function:
Under the direct supervision of the Area Director & Teen Director the Teen Program Specialist will assist with the organization and implementation of assigned sports fitness recreation and leadership programs for youth in 7th 8th grade. Guiding members to participate in recreational games activities community services and organized sports to learn basic fundamentals good sportsmanship and the development of healthy lifestyles in a safe fun and creative environment. Will promote and build relationships with community partners which include Saddleback Valley Unified School District as assigned to foster collaboration of teen programs and activities. Recognize and celebrate youth development success daily and monthly by participating with Boys & Girls Clubs of America specialized competitions and recognition programs. Will facilitate leadership programs such as Torch Club and/or Keystone and Youth of the Year. Will participate as directed with grant partnerships to support the teen programs.
Key Roles:
Supports and maintains program goals and settings that ensure the health and safety of members
Participate with fire earthquake and other evacuation drills as required by the Branch Director
Promote 40 Developmental Assets Love & Logic Approach Developmental Relationships PLAYWORKS and Developmental Communities amongst club members staff parents and community partners.
Delivers weekly/monthly program calendars as requested by Program Operations Director and offers ideas to create a variety of activities thematic to the season and the information is delivered on a timely basis.
Ensure to follow the program calendar as posted for members to review and participate.
Ensure a productive work environment by participating in weekly/monthly/quarterly staff meetings.
Greet members and parents enthusiastically using his or her first name as soon as he or she enters the Club or program area.
Daily promote positive relationship building.
Supervise and assist members in designated program areas.
Redirect negative behavior with positive communication.
Inquire for assistance from Area Director Program Operations Director or Achievement & Wellness Director.
Maintain inventory of supplies and equipment and communicate with supervisor when ordering is required.
Set and maintain appropriate standards of behavior using positive reinforcement while supporting youths selfesteem.
Reports injuries and complete required forms.
May participate in special programs and or events.
Daily keep program area clean neat and organized.
Complete housekeeping and facility maintenance duties as assigned.
Maintains a cooperative relationship with all other staff members.
May be required to drive Club van.
Attend meetings ABGCP The Big Orange Chapter monthly meetings when recommended.
Assume other duties as assigned.

Skills/Knowledge Required:
High School diploma or GED or attending college or reentering the job market.
Experience working with children/youth specifically teenagers.
Knowledge of youth development.
Ability to motivate youth and manage behavior problems.
Ability to plan and implement quality programs for youth.
Ability to organize and supervise members in a safe environment.
Good communication skills both oral and written.
Good computer literacy with multiple computer applications.
Valid CA Driver License with appropriate certification.
Bilingual capabilities (Spanish) are a plus.
