Job Summary:

Location: Methodist Corporate Office
Address: 825 S 169th St. Omaha NE

Work Schedule: Mon Fri 7:00am to 3:30pm

Responsible for APC edits to ensure accounts reflect appropriate CPT codes modifiers and units of service to facilitate correct outpatient billing as defined by Medicare.

Responsibilities:

Essential Functions

Resolves APC edits using the APC Edit Report to ensure accounts reflect appropriate current procedure terminology (CPT) codes modifiers and units of service to facilitate correct outpatient billing as defined by Medicare.

Assist with review/updating of Charge Master to ensure appropriate charging for outpatient services by working with Business Services in reviewing Charge Master with departments providing outpatient services.

  • Work with departments on Charge Master inconsistencies.

Work with System Director Clinical Coding and Documentation and Compliance to ensure adequate documentation on outpatient records to support billing for services provided by developing and implementing documentation standards.

  • Identifies areas of documentation deficiencies.

Works with business office on denied charges by reviewing submitted charges for unbundling MUE etc and resolve issues to enhance account payment timeliness.

Job Requirements

Education

  • Associate or Bachelors Degree or equivalent in Health Information Management required.
  • Participates in Mandatory inservice and continuing education programs as mandated by polices and procedures/external agencies and as directed by supervisor.


Experience

  • Two to five years experience in Outpatient Clinical Coding.
  • Management experience preferred.


License/Certifications

  • Current Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) or Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) credential through AHIMA or Certified Professional Coder (CPC) credential through AAPC required.
