Job Summary
The Gildart Haase School of Computer Sciences and Engineering of Fairleigh Dickinson University invites applications for a tenuretrack position in Computer Science at the rank of Assistant Professor for fall 2019. The School offers BS/MS Computer Science MS Cybersecurity and Information Assurance BS/MS Electrical Engineering MS Management Information Systems MS Electronic Commerce MS Computer Engineering BS Civil Engineering BS Mechanical Engineering BS Information Technology BA and BS Mathematics programs as well as four BS programs in various fields of Engineering Technology at the Metropolitan Campus. A BS Computer Engineering program is being developed to complement the related existing programs. The successful candidate is expected to teach Computer Science courses at all levels; have an active research program resulting in peerreviewed publications; provide academic advising; participate actively in student recruitment and retention efforts learning outcomes assessment and curriculum and laboratory development; supervise student organizations and accompany students on field trips and to conferences; help promote the MS and BS Computer Science and other related programs; and seek outside funding. Other responsibilities include but are not limited to assisting in the supervision of the adjunct faculty helping maintain ABET accreditation for the BS Computer Science program at the Metropolitan Campus and its related programs and implementing the Schools initiatives. Furthermore the successful candidate is expected to help in developing the BS Computer Engineering program and getting the BS Computer Engineering and the BS Information Technology programs accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Commission EAC and the Computing Accreditation Commission CAC of ABET respectively to be present on campus at least four of the five working days and to attend open houses and outreach programs which are conducted on a few weekends.
Required Qualifications
1.PhD in Computer Science or closely related field. 2.Strong commitment to excellence in teaching research service and contributions to student welfare. 3.Demonstrated ability to foster student learning in Computer Science regardless of level. 4.Superior oral and written communications skills and ability to work collaboratively. 5.Employment is contingent upon a satisfactory background check. Candidates for hire will be required to sign a waiver authorizing the background check and produce a Social Security Card. Preferred Qualification: Industrial or research experience in cybersecurity is preferred.
