Making the decision to enter treatment can be an intimidating experience for the people we support. You can make a difference.
We are seeking volunteers to work directly with one of our nominated Recovery Coordinators who specialise in the management of substance misuse be that alcohol or other drug.
It would be an advantage to have some knowledge of substance misuse in general and its wider effects. We are also looking for some general understanding of the ethics and techniques involved during treatment and methodology of recovery.
No two days are the same and we treat every person who comes into our service as an individual so being flexible curious and a good listener are key.
We will support you in this volunteering role by ensuring that you receive regular supervision with your nominated supervisor and have someone on site who you can approach for daytoday advice and guidance. In return for the time given you will receive valuable training experience and skills. You will be making a real difference too.
The roles are located at Mansfield and whilst the core operating times are weekday office hours there may be opportunity to volunteer during evening opening hours as you progress.
There are no set criteria for you to volunteer a particular number of hours or days but we do require reliability and punctuality due to providing services on an appointment based system. You will discuss your commitments and availability a few weeks in advance with your own supervisor we can accommodate such things as childcare shift working or study etc.
You will need a level of computer proficiency such that you can learn how to search and make entries on the patient records system handle emails undertake online training and participate in online meetings.
As this post involves regulated activity it necessitates Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service certification. You must be able to give an accurate address history spanning five years and to produce during the application process certain identifying documents (such as a passport original utility bills HMRC documents etc). You must already have an unrestricted right of residence in the UK.

Before deployment as a volunteer there is an online element to the induction and two days of classroom training. We try to run the classroom sessions on days mutually convenient for all attendees however some flexibility is expected.
We reimburse expenses incurred as a result of volunteering and undertake to do so via bank credit within seven days of a claim.
